As we all know, the year is coming to an end, and like every year, various platforms and websites are giving us a summary of how the year went. We’ve already seen summaries on topics like the richest Latin singers, the most popular songs, albums, and artists worldwide, and the most-streamed Latin songs, among others. Now, Google has put together a list of trends for this year in the United States. One interesting thing to note is that Google has divided songs into ‘canciones’ for Spanish-language songs and ‘songs’ for tracks in general, so in this list, we’ll cover both categories.

Top Trending ‘Canciones’ of 2023

10. «Qué Onda Perdida» by Gerardo Coronel & Grupo Firme

Starting off strongly with a song that’s dedicated to an ex-partner, someone they can’t –or don’t want to forget–, Gerardo Coronel and Grupo Firme have secured the 10th position on this list. It’s a clear reminder that many people continue to hold thoughts of their past relationships… 

9. «El Rápido» by Peso Pluma & Grupo Firme

Peso Pluma has become a trend and one of the most popular singers of this year, all thanks to his  corridos tumbados. However, this particular song is more rooted in traditional corridos, or to be even more precise, in ‘narco-corridos.’ 

8. «Mi Bello Angel» by Natanael Cano

The song Mi Bello Ángel is a cover from the band called Los Primos MX, originally released ten years ago, in 2013. The song is a duranguense style ‘love’ ballad that incorporates a saxophone for a more romantic touch. Natanael’s version is a bit different, but with the same essence and with his own style.  

7. «Ch y la Pizza» by Fuerza Regida & Natanael Cano

Even though this song hasn’t gained as much international popularity as some others of the same genre, a collaboration between two leading artists in the ‘corridos tumbados’ genre, Natanael Cano and Fuerza Régida has given rise to this song. Similar to Peso Pluma’s «El Rápido,» this track aligns more with ‘narco-corridos.’

6. «PRC» by Natanael Cano & Peso Pluma

This collab has been one of the most famous for both artists, and it is reflected in the number 6 on this list.

5. «Ella Baila Sola» by Eslabon Armado & Peso Pluma

Another standout collaboration of this year was this one, and platforms like TikTok contributed to its widespread recognition by making it go viral.

3. «AMG» by Gabito Ballesteros, Natanael Cano, & Peso Pluma

This collaboration brings together three of the genre’s leading figures. According to El Heraldo, the song’s title is inspired by a division of a well-known luxury car brand that operates under the Mercedes-Benz Group. This division specializes in customizing vehicles. Additionally, the initials pay tribute to the founders of this division, Hans-Werner Aufrect and Erhard Melcher, and their hometown in Germany.

Most of the songs on this list are a reflection of the surge in Mexican music, corridos tumbados, which have dominated the most prominent music charts this year. However, recent trends have started to shift towards a more traditional style of corridos.

Another of this year most searched Latin songs worldwide and in the US, is the #53 BZRP Session featuring Colombian legend Shakira is probably one of the best breakup songs of all time. The artist really left everything out after all the controversy surrounding her divorcing Spanish former soccer player Gerard Piqué. She teamed up with the Argentine star, transforming pain and anger into an iconic girl power anthem. “Las mujeres ya no lloran, ¡Las mujeres facturan!”
