There’s nothing like kicking off the month of spring breakers with the hottest Latin and urban hits of the moment. And precisely in this week, coinciding with the celebration of March 8th for International Women’s Day, we are excited to announce that Belinda’s «Cactus» reaches #1.
This iconic breakup song, filled with references we detailed in one of our meticulous musical analyses (including some indirect messages to her ex, the mariachi singer Christian Nodal, and the reaction of her current partner, the Argentine singer Cazzu), takes the top spot on Lista LOS40 USA. It has it all: a catchy rhythm, groundbreaking lyrics, and of course, Belinda serving some INCREDIBLE outfits. We love it!
To celebrate a special week for women worldwide, we also have to announce one of the strongest climbs of the week: Karol G moves from #10 to #2 with her hit «CONTIGO,» produced by Tiësto. A song released on Valentine’s Day that has touched her fandom and that of the Puerto Rican artist Young Miko, who appears in the emotional music video. «CONTIGO» tells a story of loving fiercely and without reservations.
The podium is also closed by the notable rise of «PLIS» by Camilo and Evaluna Montaner, who recently announced they were expecting their second child. The couple celebrates their fourth consecutive week on the chart in the best way.
In the Lista LOS40 USA, we find some interesting climbs as well, such as «Bellakeo» by Peso Pluma and Anitta, which lands in the middle of the chart at #22.
It’s also worth noting some recent hits that debut this week on the Lista LOS40 USA. The collaboration between Mexican star Carín León and Kane Brown in «The One» enters at #38, while «Triple S» by J Balvin, Jowel & Randy, and De La Ghetto debut at #32. Reik makes a strong entry at #11 with «Gracias Por Nada,» but not as much as «Diamantes y Amaranto» by Camila, which goes straight to #5 in its first week on the list.
