Just a couple of weeks ago, Shakira surprised everyone with the announcement of her first album in seven years, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, set to be released on March 22nd. And just a few days ago, she went a step further by revealing the complete tracklist. While many of the songs are familiar to us, there are others that have piqued our curiosity, leaving us eager to discover their themes and sound.

Before we knew it, Shakira unveiled «Nassau,» one of the previously unreleased tracks that we didn’t expect to hear until the album’s full release. To everyone’s delight, the singer has decided to appease our anticipation by offering a sneak peek, allowing us to get into the artist’s mindset and uncover some of the emotions she has poured into her music.

«Nassau» Shakira’s Newest Love Song

“I, who had promised I would never love again. Then you appeared to heal the wounds left by the past. I had closed that chapter, locked it up tight, but what do I do? I like you too much,” says the lone verse Shakira has let us hear from ‘Nassau’, the afrobeat we’ll be singing and dancing to endlessly this spring. If you pay attention to the lyrics, what it tells us is quite intriguing, isn’t it?

It seems that Shakira has fallen in love again, with someone who has made her forget the pain she endured when she least expected it. It’s inevitable to speculate about the person the singer is addressing. Could it be one of the dates she had publicly after separating from Piqué?

Thanks to these confessions, we can imagine some of the stories the Colombian has gone through before releasing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran: “While writing each song, I rebuilt myself. As I sang them, my tears turned into diamonds and my vulnerability into resilience,” Shakira said about the creative process behind this project.
