Shakira is experiencing one of the most interesting and anticipated moments of her career. And not just for her, but also for her billions of fans worldwide because her 12th album has finally arrived, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry).

To celebrate, Shakira not only dedicated her time to an incredible interview on LOS40, where she talked about the meaning of this album and whether there will be a next tour, but she also visited Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show in New York on Monday, March 25th.

There, she took the opportunity to multitask; apart from taking a lie detector test because «Hips Don’t Lie» (her iconic hit from the 2000s), she also had time to share other details about the album, like its resilient meaning and the real reason she didn’t release it earlier, considering it’s been almost a decade since her previous studio work, El Dorado.

«I’ve been putting music here and there, but it was really hard for me to put together a body of work. I didn’t have time. It was the husband factor. Now I’m husband-less. The husband was dragging me down. Now I’m free and I can actually work,» she reveals while laughing.

The artist from Barranquilla also explained how she ended up working with one of the most sought-after female rappers, Cardi B. «I have a song on my album called Puntería, which is the focus track, and I thought, ‘she would be perfect for this.’ She’s like the symbol of women empowerment to me. She’s just so unapologetic, she says what she thinks, she doesn’t ask for permission, and this is an album that celebrates that kind of strength,» she declares.

Just hours after the «Te Felicito» singer announced a surprise in New York City, which she has confirmed will take place today, Tuesday, March 26th, the artist performed Bullseye live on Jimmy Fallon’s show.

And you, where would you like Shakira to start her next tour?
