Shakira Announces a Surprise Street Performance? Where & When

Starting off the week with a new Shakira album is always on another level.

Even though the Colombian made us wait anxiously for the release of her highly anticipated 12th studio album after seven years since El Dorado, Las Mujeres Ya no Lloran (Women No Longer Cry) is finally out, earning a x7 platinum certification, nearly reaching half a million in sales on its release day.

In this new studio work, after a string of hits and breakup revenge anthems like the BZRP Music Sessions Vol 53, the Barranquilla native delves into her introspective process following her breakup with her former partner, the soccer player Gerard Piqué, where she lives and writes about anger, loneliness, frustration, pain, sadness… but also about motherhood, unconditional love, and, why not? The hope and burning desire to fall in love again!

Shakira wanted to celebrate this release in a big way. Perhaps that’s why this Monday, Mach 25th, she will be in New York on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. But not only that, the artist has announced through her social media that she has a surprise for the city that never sleeps.

Shakira’s Street Performance: Where & When?

Although Shakira has not specified what her mysterious surprise will entail, she has indicated that 1) it will be in New York and 2) it will be at 7:15 pm ET. It is highly likely that the artist is trying to surprise us with a spontaneous performance featuring some of the hits from her new album, like «Puntería,» her explosive collaboration with Cardi B.

While she hasn’t specified when or where exactly, let’s consider that tonight, Monday, March 25, she will be preparing for Jimmy Fallon, so it’s quite likely that she will surprise us sometime today or early this week. The program’s studios are located precisely in the Rockefeller Center, an iconic venue where many outdoor concerts by major music stars have been held, so it makes perfect sense that it could be there!
