Selena Gomez Considers Quitting Music After Next Album: “I’m Tired”

Selena Gomez is undeniably one of the most remarkable figures in the entertainment industry, thanks to her relentless dedication from a young age, beginning with her breakthrough role in Wizards of Waverly Place. In a recent interview, she reflected on her journey, explaining, “I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else.”

Over the years, Selena’s musical career has experienced intermittent phases, often hinting at a potential departure from the industry. The question arises: has that moment now arrived? She dropped subtle hints during her recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast, hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes. In this candid conversation, Selena expressed her desire to focus exclusively on one aspect of her career at this juncture: acting. 

“I’m Tired”

The artist behind the hit «Calm Down» (featuring Rema) acknowledged that she still has one more album in her, but if forced to choose, she would prioritize her acting career: “I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting.” The podcast hosts lauded her musical talents, reassuring her that she need not pick one field over the other. In response, Selena remarked, “You’re right, but I am going to want to chill because I’m tired.”

     I don’t think I’m the best singer but I do know how to tell stories and I love being able to make songs.”

Moreover, Selena openly discussed her struggles with mental health, revealing the toll that her demanding schedule, dating back to her childhood, has exacted on her well-being. “I went to a mental institute and canceled one of my tours,” she recalled. “It just got to me because I love working and it distracts me from bad things.”

Both professionally and personally, Selena Gomez enjoyed a fruitful 2023. She achieved acclaim with songs such as the aforementioned «Calm Down,» which emerged as one of the year’s standout hits. Additionally, she delighted fans with the release of her track «Single Soon.» 

Furthermore, Selena has been photographed in high spirits alongside her current partner, music producer Benny Blanco, with whom she shared heartwarming moments during the recent holiday season.
