The breakup between Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro was undeniably one of the most surprising events of 2023. Now, almost six months after they announced their separation, Rauw Alejandro has opened up in a detailed interview on YouTube with Chente Ydrach.

This unexpected news came to light in People magazine on July 25th, shortly after they had revealed their engagement plans. Interestingly, just a couple of days before this, Rosalía herself shared some insights about their upcoming wedding on El Hormiguero, saying, “I have a few dresses in mind… One from Vivienne Westwood, I’d love to wear Vivienne Westwood.”

In his recent interview, Rauw Alejandro talked about how he dealt with the comments and reactions from both their fans following such surprising news. He said, “I’ve never experienced anything like this before. It was tough because life throws unexpected challenges at you, and there’s no handbook to guide you through it. Many things were said… We had been together for four years, and there had never been any negative news before this. When this news broke, it was reported in a way that allowed for speculation. It’s frustrating because there’s the public image of the artist and their personal life.”

Infidelity Rumors

As for the rumors of infidelity, the real reasons behind Rosalía and Rauw’s decision to end their three-and-a-half-year relationship have remained undisclosed. However, the theory of infidelity on Rauw’s part, despite a joint statement from both artists explaining the breakup as a mutual decision, has gained traction.

Rauw expressed his frustration, saying, “What’s most challenging is that people don’t seem to care even if she defends me. They label you. She might deny it, but they still say, ‘We don’t believe you. We think you’re defending him out of affection, but he was unfaithful.’ What more can we say? Both of us are asserting that everything is fine, that nothing untoward happened, but people believe what they want to believe.”

He added, “If I ever face a situation like this again, I’ll address it swiftly… I won’t leave room for speculation because people come up with all sorts of stories. I was involved in a campaign with Carolina Herrera and Bruna Marquezine, and we were featured in an outdoor advertisement. Some paparazzi took photos, and the next day, there was a story like, ‘So-and-so is with so-and-so.’ I mean, come on, I was working! People make up anything.”

The Song Dedicated to Rosalía

Neither of the two artists has given much insight into the reasons behind their breakup. However, shortly after announcing their separation, Rauw released a song that laid bare his feelings for Rosalía.

With no prior announcement, Rauw Alejandro dropped «Hayami Hana,» a six-minute track where he reminisces about the most beautiful moments of their relationship. One notable line in the song reads, ‘Today, I stop writing to you, but I don’t stop loving you,’ implying that despite no longer being together, his love and affection for her endure.

The song’s title was not chosen randomly either. It’s no secret that Rosalía, known for «Con Altura,» has a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and often incorporates Japanese terms into her songs. It seems that Rauw wanted to pay homage by naming the song «Hayami Hana.» In Japanese, ‘Hayami’ signifies ‘a girl of extraordinary beauty,’ while ‘hana’ means ‘a blossoming flower.’
