It’s no secret that Peso Pluma is one of the most powerful Latin stars in the music scene. The artist from Jalisco has reached the top in just a year, bringing significant recognition to Mexican music.

He has confessed to enjoy his rapid rise to fame. While many artists view fame as somewhat problematic, having to deal with various controversies and explain things beyond their music, Peso Pluma sees the bright side of it all.

What’s Next for Peso Pluma?

With all the success Peso Pluma has achieved in the past year, having won every possible award including a Grammy, Latin Grammy, and VMA, many are wondering: what’s next?

“The tour, man. The tour starts in July. I’m really excited for people to see the new show, a completely different vibe from what people have seen in Mexican music. I think this NBA stadium tour is going to be amazing,” he said.

Thus, Peso Pluma confirms that his return to the stage after his accident at the Governors Ball Festival in New York in early June will happen this month, likely on July 19th in Austin, Texas. It will be his first time performing in this state, as well as in Miami and Phoenix. Additionally, the Mexican artist is confident his stardom will continue to grow during the tour, necessitating more dates. “I’m not planning it now, it’s already planned, new dates are coming,” he declared.

Peso Pluma’s Idols

In the Complex interview, Peso Pluma also talked about meeting his inspirations like ASAP Rocky, with whom he hinted at a possible future collaboration.

He explained that figures like Drake, Kanye, and Kendrick Lamar helped him learn English when he came to the United States. “Music was very special for learning English, that’s how I learned. I never learned through a teacher, but through music. And that specific slang from hip hop and rap stuck with me.”

Another of his role models is Jay-Z. “I just admire and respect him a lot, you know? He’s one of my biggest inspirations too. The way he did things with hip hop and rap and brought out so many artists doing what he does, and what he does with fashion in all aspects. I admire that a lot, and I want to be like him someday. I’m starting to launch my own label, Doble P Records, helping new artists get on the map.”

Pride for Mexico

Peso Pluma takes pride in being Mexican every minute. “I think it’s the feeling of being Mexican. I feel very proud, there’s a lot of talent in my country. Many musicians are doing very well, I just want people all over the world to see my roots, where I come from, where our music style comes from.”

Without a doubt, there’s much more to come from Peso Pluma, and with each step, the singer of ‘Exodo’ will do his best to dedicate all his successes to his country.

“There’s much more to conquer, to give to people, to music. I want to create new genres, I want people to feel differently than they used to, to experience new sounds, just new music. Because I think when we reach the peak, they keep doing the same thing and get used to it, and I don’t want that for my fans. I want them to enjoy every release I make. I want to win a Latin Grammy this year, maybe a VMA, I want to participate in more festivals, I want Mexico to get this recognition, you know?».
