Karol G is Also Captivated by Xavi: The Mexican Artist of the Moment

Karol G has also been impressed by the current music sensation, Xavi. The Mexican-American singer has risen to prominence in the music scene in 2024, despite being just 19 years old. His song «La Diabla» has claimed the top spot on the global Spotify charts. 

Released last summer, the song has become one of the most widely shared songs of the moment. This accomplishment has earned Xavi a coveted place among Spanish-speaking artists who have reached the top of the Global charts with a solo release, a club that includes only Anitta, Myke Towers, Bad Bunny, and Iñigo Quintero (we are still remembering the buzz from «Si no estás»). 

It’s not surprising that Karol G has also taken an interest in the songs of this young artist, who specializes in Mexican ‘corridos tumbados.’ This genre gained worldwide recognition last year thanks to Peso Pluma‘s «Ella baila sola.»

However, «La Diabla» didn’t captivate the ‘bichota.’ Instead, it was «La Víctima» that resonated with the Latin superstar. She didn’t hesitate to feature it on her Instagram stories, where it could be seen by her over 68 million followers. 

«La Víctima» is a song that Xavi released in August 2023, focusing on themes of heartbreak: a relationship that has ended, with one party refusing to play the victim. Interestingly, this track has become Xavi’s most streamed song across all platforms, even surpassing «La Diabla» (though the latter racks up millions of daily streams and is poised to overtake it). 

For an up-and-coming artist like Xavi, receiving recognition from a prominent figure like Karol G, who wields significant influence in today’s music market, is a noteworthy achievement. The ‘bichota’ has a knack for identifying promising collaborations, having partnered with artists on the verge of international stardom in recent years, including Peso Pluma, Quevedo, Nathy Peluso, and Bad Gyal. 

Given this, it wouldn’t be surprising if Karol G considered releasing a song with Xavi in the near future. After all, there’s no music genre that can elude the ‘bichota.
