Who’s Xavi?: The Mexican-American Artist Triumphing with ‘La Diabla’

Recently, Xavi made an impressive debut in Spotify’s Global Top Charts with his song «La Diabla.» What’s remarkable is that he achieved this just a week after Christmas, following Mariah Carey’s tradition of keeping «All I Want For Christmas» locked away until November 2024. 

«La Diabla,» with a daily streaming count of four million plays, even outperformed Tate McRae’s «Greedy.» And Xavi didn’t stop there; he also introduced the song «La Víctima» to a wider audience. But what does «La Diabla» sound like?

«La Diabla» is a track Xavi released last November, telling the story of falling for someone with a darker side. In his lyrics, he says, “I’m the bad influence, and that’s what you liked. You’re a troublemaker, it’s evident, my love. You’re a devil, see how you dance. On a scale of one to ten, you’re a million.”

The song comes with a music video showing Xavi enjoying a college house party, where he meets the woman he affectionately calls «La Diabla.» This song is also gaining traction on YouTube’s global charts, confirming its status as a bona fide hit. 

Who is Xavi, And What’s His Musical Journey?

Joshua Xavier Gutiérrez, a 19-year-old Mexican-American singer-songwriter, is making a name for himself in the music industry thanks to the success of «La Diabla» and «La Víctima.» When he broke into Billboard’s global top charts in December, Xavi couldn’t believe his luck: “Seeing the artists and songs in the top 10 is an incredible honor.
