Following the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the global film industry was slowly getting back on its feet when the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike caused further delays to several highly anticipated projects. However, we finally have release dates for several films that we’ve been eagerly waiting for, some of them for several years.

Joker: Folie à Deux

The director Todd Phillips’ take on Joker (2019) in this version has sparked mixed feelings among the audience because we’ve never seen such a ‘real’ and ‘raw’ portrayal of the character before. Directed by Phillips once again, this movie will also introduce us to the famous Harley Quinn, portrayed by Lady Gaga, and this casting choice has generated a lot of excitement since it was announced.

As for the plot, it will follow Arthur Fleck’s escape from Arkham. For those familiar with Batman, Joker, or Harley, it’s not hard to guess that Arkham is where Joker and Harley’s ‘love’ story begins. The film will also feature some surprising musical elements, but we’ll have to wait until October 4, 2024, to see it all unfold.

Inside Out 2

The first part of Inside Out came out back in 2015 and quickly became a big hit because it did a great job diving into psychology and telling Riley’s emotional journey. Now, almost ten years later, we’re finally getting the long-awaited second part. They’ve already given us a sneak peek that we’ll see at least one emotion we’re all too familiar with: anxiety. What other emotions will show up in the movie? We’ll have to wait until June 14th this year to find out.

Deadpool 3

Deadpool has become the favorite anti-hero for many, and this year, after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, completed in March 2019, fans are in for a treat. While the exact plot is still a secret, we’ve already seen several images of Ryan Reynolds alongside Hugh Jackman, who is known for his role as Wolverine. The film is finally scheduled to be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.

Mean Girls

Mean Girls has become a symbol of 2000s culture with Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, and Amanda Seyfried in starring roles. Not only was it a hit upon its initial release, but as it celebrates its 20th anniversary, a new version is set to hit theaters. This adaptation draws heavily from the successful 2018 Broadway musical, featuring updated versions of the stage production’s songs. As revealed in the final trailer, the movie is scheduled to premiere on January 12th.

MADAME WEB

Madame Web, a character from the Spider-Man universe, was first introduced in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ comics in the 1980s. According to Fotogramas, she’s portrayed as a clairvoyant mutant with a unique talent for predicting the futures of superheroes associated with Spider-Man. She has served as a mentor not only to Peter Parker but also to multiple generations of heroes who adopt the Spider-Woman persona.

Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney are the stars of this film, in which they’ll have to confront events from her past that have come to light. The realese date will be on February 14, 2024.

FURIOSA

Once again, we’re getting a prequel, this time to Mad Max: Fury Road, the movie that won big at the Oscars in 2016. It’s set to hit theaters in May this year, where we’ll get to know the backstory of a young Furiosa, who, as described by Filmaffinity, gets taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and ends up in the hands of a formidable Motorcycle Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Furiosa faces a series of challenges as she tries to find her way back home.

Argylle

Argylle follows Elly Conway, a famous but introverted spy novelist who rarely ventures outside her home. Her life takes an unexpected turn when the events in her novels start resembling her life. After a delay of several years, we will, at last, have the opportunity to witness Dua Lipa’s performance in the movie on February 2nd.

Beetlejuice 2

One of the most beloved movies in cinema history is getting a sequel, and according to experts at Warner Bros., it’s finally set to be released on September 6th after several delays, including those caused by the Hollywood actors’ strike.

For this new film, Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara will be reprising their original roles, and they will be joined by Jenna Ortega and Willem Dafoe. However, the movie’s storyline is being kept a closely guarded secret: Will Beetlejuice return from the afterlife seeking revenge?

KRAVEN THE HUNTER

Once again, in the world of Spider-Man, Sergei Kravinoff is determined to take down Spider-Man. His name suggests that he’s an expert hunter and has a unique animal-like connection that helps him track down anyone he’s after.

The movie draws inspiration from the Marvel comic ‘Kraven’s Last Hunt.’ It’s set to hit theaters in the United States on August 30, 2024 after being rescheduled from January 13 and October 6, 2023, due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

Gladiator 2

We have limited information about the second installment of the famous 2000 film Gladiator, which is once again being directed by Ridley Scott. In the first movie, we followed the story of Russell Crowe, who played the role of Maximus Decimus, a battle-hardened warrior forced to become a gladiator after being captured as a slave. The movie is currently scheduled for release on November 22, 2024, but there’s a possibility of further delays.

Venom 3

The third part in the Venom series, which hasn’t been given an official title yet, was originally scheduled for release on July 12. However, Sony Pictures has decided to delay its premiere until November 8, 2024, as reported by Variety.

Dune: Part Two

The second part of the Dune series will bring back all the main characters who survived in the first film. This includes Paul Atreides, Chani, Lady Jessica, Gurney Halleck, Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Glossu Rabban, Gaius Helen Mohiam, Stilgar, and others. It will continue the story that was introduced in the first part and is scheduled for release on March 15, 2024.

KUNG FU PANDA 4

In 2024, Po is returning to the big screen after his thrilling adventures where he faced death and triumphed over formidable villains, all thanks to his bravery and exceptional martial arts skills. This time, he’s called upon to assume the role of the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace, and we can look forward to watching it on March 8.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

In yet another sequel to the famous Planet of the Apes series, this film, as described on IMDb, is set many years after Caesar’s rule. A young ape embarks on a journey that makes him question everything he has learned about the past and forces him to make decisions that will impact the future for both apes and humans. It is scheduled for release in theaters on May 24, 2024.

GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE

The well-known series of ghost-hunting adventures is returning to theaters with Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, where the team must stop a new ice age. The movie is scheduled for release on March 29 of the current year.
