For over a year now, we’ve been hearing the exciting news that Dua Lipa would be sharing the screen with none other than the heartthrob of millions worldwide: Henry Cavill. Dua Lipa, known not only as a contemporary pop sensation but also for her role in the Barbie movie, has set her fans abuzz with anticipation. However, much to their disappointment, Dua’s role in the film was limited to just a few lines and three brief appearances. Her character was inspired by one of Mattel’s iconic dolls, specifically a long-haired, blue-tailed mermaid that made its debut in the 90s.

Furthermore, Dua Lipa‘s song for the movie’s soundtrack, «Dance The Night,» has achieved tremendous success, recently topping the UK charts. This accomplishment not only earned her an award but also a personalized Barbie doll resembling her character from the song’s music video. As for her upcoming film, Argylle, the recently released trailer hints at a more prominent leading role for Lipa. Yet, the question remains: What is the movie about?

The plot of Argylle was a well-guarded secret for years, so it’s intriguing that the first trailer for the movie is now revealing key story elements. In simple terms, Argylle follows Elly Conway, a famous but introverted spy novelist who rarely ventures outside her home. Her life takes an unexpected turn when the events in her novels start resembling her life.

Conway’s life descends into chaos when she meets Aiden on a train, a real-life spy who claims to have saved her from a potential kidnapping or worse. Aiden introduces her, along with her cat, to a world of spies and murder that she had only previously imagined for her books. It turns out that her fictional spy missions align with real-life events, drawing the attention of various parties, including a villainous character played by Bryan Cranston.

So… Are We Going to See More of Dua Lipa Acting?

It’s pretty early to tell, but based on what the trailer has revealed, Lipa appears to be a fictional character from Elly’s mind, much like Henry Cavill. However, the information provided in the trailer remains incomplete, as it doesn’t clarify the roles of actors like Ariana DeBose and Samuel L. Jackson in the story. Therefore, there’s still a possibility that Lipa could have more appearances, or perhaps she even portrays the ‘real-life Argylle’. We’ll have to wait until February 1st to find out.
