Finally, it seems that the good weather is here, and with it comes the time to raise one of the most anticipated debates of the year for music lovers: What will be the summer song of 2023?

Ever since Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee took the world by storm with ‘Despacito’ in 2017, the game changed. Instead of having hits that reign with absolute power in the months of July and August, many artists now opt for festive songs that coexist at the top of the charts, offering the audience the opportunity to choose their own summer song based on their preferences.

This year, there are songs of all styles. While there are still many upcoming releases to come, artists such as Karol G, Shakira, Manuel Turizo, Sebastián Yatra, Myke Towers and Peso Pluma have already drop some songs that will most likely become some of the lucky ones that will be played non-stop at any summer party worth attending. Here are all the mentioned songs, and a few more that, among many others that have already been released or are yet to come, could also be candidates for the 2023 Summer Song.

‘QLONA’ – Karol G & Peso Pluma

We could chose several songs of Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito and Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) and Peso Pluma’s Génesis, but we definitely fell in love with this awesome junte. For us is clear that «QLONA» is the next hit of the summer; the combination between the Colombian diva’s style and the Mexican artist’s flow combines perfectly to create a seductive and catchy song. The perfect match to get closer to your crush.

‘LALA’ – Myke Towers

At this point, if you still haven’t heard «LALA,» it’s because you’re not on TikTok. Myke Towers’ song has become the latest sensation on the favorite social media platform of Generation Z. Many users are recording their reactions upon discovering what «LALA» means. And the truth is, this word is not as innocent as it seems.

‘Ella baila sola’ – Peso Pluma

If there is a genre that is trending, it’s corridos tumbados. And if there is a king in this field, it’s the Mexican artist Peso Pluma. His song ‘Ella baila sola’ ft. Eslabón Armado is taking over dance floors and social media, and it wouldn’t be surprising if it becomes one of the biggest summer hits.

BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 56 by Bizarrap & Rauw Alejandro

Bizarrap & Rauw Alejandro recently released ‘BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 56,’ a captivating techno track recorded in Biza’s popular blue studio. The song revolves around the desires of two single individuals for each other. In the provocative chorus, Rauw Alejandro passionately sings, «Yo estoy solo y tú estás sola/ Tú me quieres probar, yo comerte toda«.

The corridos tumbados icon, Peso Pluma, and rising star Yng Lvcas are two key figures revolutionizing Mexican music. ‘La Bebé-Remix’ is a Mexican reggaeton that has achieved incredible popularity, even having a third remix with the iconic David Guetta.

‘Where She Goes’ – Bad Bunny

In ‘Where She Goes’, Bad Bunny turns into a frontiersman, rocking a cool cowboy vibe in the Stillz-directed music video and riding around through the California desert in a vintage Rolls-Royce. The setting chosen for this video does not seem to be a coincidence. We know that Kendall Jenner, with whom she is currently in a relationship, really likes horses and Western aesthetics. Fun fact: one of his first dates with the supermodel was going horseback riding.

‘TQM’ – Fuerza Regida

Fuerza Regida’s ‘TQM’ portrays a luxorious lifestyle and an influential status within the community. The lyrics vividly express the artist’s love for extravagant fashion and recreational substances. You know: summer, parties, good music… and and all that goes with it.

The track ‘PASIEMPRE’ keeps revolutionizing social media.

In ‘Chulo pt. 2,’ Bad Gyal, Tokischa and Young Miko give their all while moving to the rhythm of the song through Barcelona (Spain). They enjoy the night and the party in a limousine, a restaurant, and, of course, a nightclub.

‘Si te pegas’ – Rauw Alejandro

The Puerto Rican artist has just released Playa Saturno, a work with sensual melodies and a lot, and we mean a lot, of perreo to fully enjoy the summer. In ‘Si te pegas,’ the artist shows us that he’s an ace at creating rounded songs. The track has an incredible vibe and a rhythm that’s hard to forget, with playful lyrics resting on it. For this song, Rauw teams up with Spanish artist Miguel Bosé, although his appearance in the track is minor. Otherwise, it’s a cool production that will keep you occupied all night.

‘Mi Lova’ – Bad Gyal & Myke Towers

This song, which Myke Towers already talked about on LOS40 Urban, is a track that serves as a preview of Bad Gyal’s debut album. It’s a slow and romantic reggaeton that addresses desire, attraction and sex between two lovers. It’s a song that the artist has already performed live, but it wasn’t known that it would be with the Puerto Rican star. The music video was filmed in April 2023 in Las Vegas during the Latin American Music Awards week, taking advantage of both artists attending the gala. The video includes references to the 90s and the distinct aesthetic of the city of casinos.

‘QUEMA’ – Ryan Castro, Peso Pluma

If you wanted a catchy reggaeton song to give it your all this weekend, the new track from the Argentine artist is for you. Tiago PZK lets himself go with uncensored lyrics and a music video filled with «perreo» and unstoppable rhythms that will take us straight to the dance floor.

‘Wiggy’ – Young Miko

Young Miko bring us what we need to party during summer: an iconic throwback to 2000s hit «Aserejé» by Spanish girl group Las Ketchup. The only way to make this iconic song better is to make a reggaeton track lile ‘Wiggy’, which will make us deliver a good perreo.
