Peso Pluma is, without a doubt, going through the best moment of his stellar career. A few days ago, his latest studio album, ‘Génesis,’ was released, featuring a tracklist of 15 songs for all situations. «To dance, to cry, and also to sing,» he says in his latest interview with Eddie Francis on Apple Music 1.
The artist has taken regional Mexican music to another level. He has brought it to territories where it was previously completely unknown or not very popular. His music has become a phenomenon without limits and music lovers are beginning to study it to understand its unstoppable success. Songs like ‘Ella Baila Sola’ and his session with Bizarrap are clear examples of this.
With the release of ‘Génesis,’ the Mexican artist has taken an important step in his career. But for him, it’s only the beginning. «It’s just the beginning of this new era, not only in the music industry for us as a group, as a band, but for the entire industry, for the entire Mexican industry,» he explains.
Peso Pluma is aware that what he is experiencing is something unique.
«I’m just too happy for all these Latin music urban artists that are putting their flags and our Hispanic music on the top of the world. It’s just so satisfying seeing all this Latin songs all over the place. We’re so happy that people are starting to accept us along the way. I’ve been talking to a lot of important people in my genre and it’s just so incredible that people that I’ve heard all my life while I was growing up now tell me that our music and our genre is going too global and worldwide. But it’s not just me, it’s a bunch of people who built it from the beginning. I’m very grateful, but I’m just going with the flow. I’m just creating my music, my songs, and I just want to convey all my passion to all these people,» assures the ‘Doble P’
What is the key to his success? He’s clear about it: authenticity. «That’s why people want to see me in a live show or are waiting for new songs because they know that each song will be different, each song will hit differently, and each one talks about a different theme in general. That’s why people like it a lot, and I’m very grateful,» says Peso Pluma.
Now, with an eye on the future, the artist has talked about delving into other musical styles beyond regional Mexican and corridos tumbados. «I’m going to start making more different music from different styles that people don’t know I’m capable of doing,» he declares.
