Carin León Reaches the Global Top 100 On Spotify

Carin León continues to establish himself as one of the most prominent interpreters of Mexican regional music on the international stage. Recently, he made an impressive appearance in Spotify’s Global Top 100, with two songs, ‘Primera Cita’ and ‘Que Vuelvas’ with Grupo Frontera, from his latest album Colmillo de leche.

He reached the positions of number 94 and 97, joining the renowned crew of Mexican artists Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, Natanael Cano, Junior H, Jassiel Nuñez, and Grupo Frontera –the last four artists collab with Peso Pluma for his latest album Génesis.

Primera Cita

Even though the official music video premiered on April 20, it remains a popular trend on YouTube three months later, currently ranking at No. 11 as of July 27, with over 58 million views.

The song tells a romantic story about a forbidden love that grew so intense over time that the lovers eventually drifted apart, becoming strangers, and losing touch with each other’s current whereabouts. However, in the end, the singer expresses a desire to rekindle their connection, proposing that if they meet again, they should repeat their ‘first date‘. 

The song mixes the blues and soul genre but has the Regional Mexicano deep in its roots.

This music video premiered on December 8, 2022, even before his song ‘Primera Cita’. Currently on July 27, the video is at No. 19 on YouTube trends with over 340 million views.

The song is about the longing and pride in a romantic relationship. The singer writes messages to their partner but deletes them before he’s left on seen, feeling both proud and longing for their partner. Even though he wants the loved one back, he’s not going to ‘humiliate’ himself by asking.

The singer of ‘Que Vuelvas’ has been incredibly busy in 2023. After performing in multiple states of Mexico during the first seven months of the year, he is now preparing for an extensive three-month tour starting in August, with over twenty dates scheduled across the United States.
