Lady Gaga is undoubtedly one of the biggest artists of this century. She’s always broken boundaries in music, and now, she’s doing so in a different way. Even though she’s in an incredible moment with the release of her latest album Mayhem, the singer has recently addressed a very personal and delicate topic.

“I had psychosis. I was not deeply in touch with reality for a while. It took me out of life in a big way, and after a lot of years of hard work I got myself back.”

During that period, she experienced extreme isolation and had to go through a challenging healing process. However, after years of therapy and self-reflection, she was able to move forward and rebuild her emotional well-being.

The Comment That Changed Everything

Just as Lady Gaga was starting to feel better, she met Michael Polansky, her current fiancé. Although she was in a better place, one comment from him made her stop and think about her true happiness.

“It was a hard time, and it was actually really special when I met my partner because when I met Michael, I was in a much better place, but I remember him saying to me, pretty early on, ‘I know you could be a lot happier than you are.”

His words made her realize that, even though she had made a lot of progress, there was still work to be done on her journey to find full fulfillment. Talking about her mental health hasn’t been easy for the singer. In the interview, she confessed that for a long time, she felt ashamed of her diagnosis and didn’t want others to see her as someone with emotional struggles.

“I wanted him to think I was like this happy, totally together person,” Gaga expressed. However, over time, she came to understand that there’s nothing to be ashamed of and that asking for help is part of the healing process.

“It’s something that I have found increasingly harder to talk about. I hate feeling defined by it. It felt like something I felt ashamed of. But I don’t think that we should feel ashamed if we go through times like that. I mostly just wish to say, it can get better. It did for me, and I’m grateful for that.”

A Message of Hope for Her Fans

In addition to sharing her own experience, Lady Gaga wanted to offer a message of hope to those struggling with their mental health. Her story serves as proof that recovery is possible and that there is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Today, the singer is stronger than ever, with a career that continues to evolve and a loving relationship that has inspired her to keep growing. Her bravery in discussing the topic highlights the importance of normalizing conversations about mental health and seeking help when needed.
