Has Donald Trump Responded to Bad Bunny’s Message in ‘NUEVAYoL’?

Through the release of his music video, the Puerto Rican artist voiced support for the Latino community with a satirical swipe at the magnate

Bad Bunny has shown on several occasions that he feels the need to speak up against injustices affecting the Puerto Rican population, his homeland, and the broader Latino community. That’s the case with the music video for his song “NUEVAYoL,” part of his latest album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which premiered on July 4, 2025, and carries a strong message against Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policies.

Although the album was released in January 2025, Benito (Bad Bunny’s real name) waited to release the NUEVAYoL video because of the song’s significance. It contains various references representing Puerto Rican culture in the city and mentions Independence Day. Still, Bad Bunny didn’t want to miss the opportunity to protest Trump’s discriminatory actions against the Latino population.

At the end of the video, several young Latinos are gathered around a radio playing the voice of a Donald Trump impersonator saying: “I made a mistake, I want to apologize to the immigrants in America—I mean the United States. I know America is the whole continent,” in a fake audio. “I mean this country is nothing without immigrants. This country is nothing without Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Colombians, Venezuelans, Cubans,” it continues. The video closes with a clear message: «Juntos somos más fuertes»

After this powerful statement by Bad Bunny, many wonder if Trump has responded yet.

Donald Trump’s Response to Bad Bunny

Has Donald Trump reacted to Bad Bunny’s message in “NUEVAYoL”? So far, the magnate hasn’t spoken clearly about it. Since the video’s July 4 release, Trump has only posted photos of the day’s celebrations and a link to a live broadcast about the Military Family Picnic on X.

On his social platform, Truth Social, besides briefly commenting on Texas floods, he took the chance to post a new anti-immigration message, possibly in response to the video’s statements:

This July 4th weekend I want to give a big ‘THANK YOU!’ to the heroic ICE officers fighting every day to reclaim our sovereignty and freedom. One of the most exciting parts of the ‘ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL ACT’ is that it includes ALL of the funding and resources that ICE needs to carry out the largest mass deportation operation in history,” Trump wrote. “It’s called ‘REMIGRATION,’ and it will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!,” he posted.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act is a massive law signed by Trump on July 4, 2025, mixing tax cuts, social reforms, and a radical immigration shift—all packaged as his flagship project. On one hand, it lowers taxes, allows deductions for tips and overtime, raises the child tax credit, and expands middle-class family benefits. On the other hand, it cuts billions from Medicaid and food assistance, potentially leaving millions without medical coverage or aid.

And what does it have to do with deportations? A lot: the law allocates huge funds to strengthen ICE, increase the number of agents, build more border wall, and expedite deportations. Trump exposes it as a way to “protect” American workers, linking tax relief with a tough immigration stance: lower taxes for those “following the rules” and more expulsions for those “who shouldn’t be here.” In short, it’s his way of uniting economy and national identity into one political package: benefits for some, punishment for others.

Besides promoting his policies against the Latino population, Trump has used his social media to send a message against his new enemy, Elon Musk. “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely ‘off the rails,’ essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks. He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States,” the magnate posted on Truth Social.

Bad Bunny: Consistent and Cear in His Stance

If anything, Bad Bunny’s artistic and political action has once again shown his unconditional support for the Latino community. This aligns with his decision not to hold concerts for his new tour in the U.S.—a choice he justified as ‘unnecessary’ since he has already toured there extensively in the past. Given his current position, the logistical challenges, and the risks of public exposure for Latino communities at this moment, that decision increasingly makes sense.
