Both artists confirmed this exciting news via their Instagram stories, where they shared the exclusive Deadline article titled about their comeback. Selena expressed her enthusiasm with a “So excited!” comment in her story, while David wrote, “I’ve been waiting to talk about this FOREVER! […] The Russo’s are back!” Furthermore, the «Single Soon» singer posted another story featuring a nostalgic throwback picture with Henrie and the caption “We’re back.”
Additionally, Disney Channel, via its official TikTok account, shared a video with several clips from the program. Towards the end of the video, a script with the inscription ‘Wizards ‘Pilot,’ written by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas,’ can be seen.
What Will the Sequel be About?
While it’s still too early to know exactly what it will be about, Deadline assures that the story will kick off following a mysterious incident at WizTech. In this storyline, an adult Justin Russo willingly abandons his wizard powers to lead a normal and ordinary human life with his wife and two sons. However, his world takes an unexpected turn when a powerful young wizard seeking guidance appears at his doorstep. Justin finds himself compelled to revisit his magical past in order to secure the future of the Wizarding World.
The original series, which aired from 2007 to 2012, centered around the Russo family secretly living as wizards in New York City. The Russo siblings, including Alex (played by Selena Gomez), Justin (portrayed by David Henrie), and Max (played by Jake T. Austin), were in the middle of mastering their magical skills while navigating the ups and downs of adolescence.
