The Top 100 Albums of All Time: Only One Album in Spanish

This list is based on Apple Music and it doesn't include any Latina or Spanish female artists

A major streaming platform recently unveiled its top 100 greatest albums of all time. Apple Music’s chart covers a wide range of genres. However, it’s noticeable that the list heavily favors English-language albums and largely ignores those sung in other languages. Surprisingly, there’s only one album entirely in Spanish on the entire list, despite the substantial influence of Latin music in the industry.

Among the standout albums known for their exceptional quality are those by Rosalía, specifically El Mal Querer and Motomami. The latter has received one of the highest ratings on Metacritic for albums in the past twenty years, earning praise from critics in the specialized press.

Let’s not overlook Karol G and her albums like Mañana Será Bonito. Also, consider Emilia, an up-and-coming star in Argentine music with her recent .MP3 release. When it comes to artists, there are many who have made a global impact with their music and unique styles, from the young Mexican Peso Pluma to the Spanish artist C. Tangana. However, none of them appear on this list.

The list features a mix of current stars and music legends like Kendrick Lamar, Nirvana, and Bob Dylan. It also includes today’s top pop divas such as Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Adele. Among the newer albums are SZA’s SOS, Kacey Musgraves’ Golden Hour, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

But Who Has the Only Spanish-language Album?

That would be Bad Bunny with Un Verano Sin Ti at number 76.

The Top Three Albums of All Time

So, what are the top three albums in history according to Apple Music? Coming in third place is Abbey Road by The Beatles, a groundbreaking pop album that gave us timeless songs like «Here Comes The Sun» and «Something».

In second place is Thriller by Michael Jackson, released in 1982, which completely changed the music scene with its innovative sounds, lyrics, and iconic music videos that have been widely imitated since.

And in first place? The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, a classic hip-hop album from 1998 that earned praise from critics and fans alike. This album had a profound influence on future musicians, as Hill set new standards in the genre.
