On January 25, Netflix premieres «Griselda,» starring the iconic actess Sofía Vergara. That’s why she finds herself in Europe promoting the highly anticipated series. But no one could have expected that in one of the interviews, real sparks would fly. It happened on Spanish television, on the show «El Hormiguero,» hosted by Spanish TV star Pablo Motos. Vergara visited «El Hormiguero» to have some fun, and she certainly did. The same cannot be said for the host, who had to handle one comeback after another from the actress.

«I don’t believe that lie of you watching the whole thing,» she began when Pablo claimed to have seen all six episodes about this woman, whom Pablo Escobar supposedly feared. He didn’t fix it when he got the name of her character wrong. Pablo referred to Griselda Marcos when, in reality, it is Griselda Blanco. «Since he watched the entire series… I knew you were going to get caught. That’s what happens when you lie,» insisted the actress.

A series that deals with drug trafficking in Colombia during its most challenging period, a time Vergara experienced firsthand. «Unfortunately, my brother was part of that business. They killed my brother in 1996 in Colombia, and I had to bring my whole family to Miami. It was a very difficult time in Colombia,» she explained.

Vergara’s strength lies in her naturalness when speaking about anything without prejudices or complexes. At this point, she has nothing left to prove, and she knows it, giving her the confidence to turn interviews into dialectical games to win over the audience and not make it easy for the interviewer.

Successful Businesswoman

She explained that after «Modern Family,» she was typecast in comedy, so she had to create this Griselda drama herself. Motos responded with a list of companies the actress has set up in the cosmetics, management, and other fields. «You have a lot of companies; I suppose there are people who run them because you won’t do anything,» he said.

«No, I don’t do anything. I buy everything ready-made,» she replied. «Now I do less, honestly. Now I have more people to do things for me. Why lie to you.» She always had vision. Her first major business was creating a calendar with her photos, something that was prevalent in the North American market but not in the Latino market.

She joked about what her next business would be: «My makeup brand is called Toti, and I’m going to name my cocaine business Coti.» After asserting that it was a joke, she added, «These jokes shouldn’t be made. Why do you make these jokes here? I’m not going to do that disgusting thing; he forced me to say that.»

Addictions

Then she talked about her healthy habits. She admitted that she had never smoked until now, when she had to learn to do it for her role. She drinks, but not every day, «one day yes, and the next day no.» Since the ’90s, she has been applying sunscreen, although the healthiest thing is to have a good time with her family. «I love everything new that comes out about vitamins and stuff. I have a big problem; I love sweets, and I have to control myself. I have a sugar addiction,» she admitted.

They agreed to exchange their chocolates. When Sofia found out that Motos didn’t have any on hand, she asked him a question that sparked laughter: «What do you eat while you’re clowning around back there?»

They also talked about love. She recently divorced Joe Manganiello and asked the ants to introduce her to a man. Of course, she had requirements: over fifty, with equal or more money than her, and not excessively handsome.

A dialectical duel throughout the entire program with a clear winner according to the audience.
