‘The Fall Guy’: A Film that Honors Stunt Performers (Interview)

Many of our favorite movies wouldn't be the same without them

One of the most important jobs in Hollywood movies is that of stunt doubles. Thanks to their hard work and bravery, we get to see action-packed scenes full of danger that actors usually don’t perform. Except for Tom Cruise and JAckie Chan, who does all their own stunts. And when we say all, we mean every single one.

Unfortunately, despite the risks they take, they often don’t get the recognition they deserve. It’s surprising how few stunt doubles we know or even know their names. Like the main actors, they are there throughout the entire filming process. And let’s be honest, many of our favorite movies wouldn’t be the same without them.

Synopsis

Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), a stunt double who returns to action after an accident nearly ends his career, sets out to find movie star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who has mysteriously disappeared. But he’s not just going back to his old job for that reason; the big-budget film is being directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), and he wants to get closer to her.

As the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt gets caught up in a dark and dangerous plot that will push him to his limits, facing risks greater than any movie stunt.
