The countdown has started for the release of Shakira‘s latest studio album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. After solidifying her position as an international pop sensation, the Colombian artist from Barranquilla is back with a promising new album that’s set to make waves in her career.
While details about this being her twelfth album are limited, it’s confirmed that some of her recent hits will be featured. Tracks like «Music Sessions Vol. 53» with Bizarrap, «TQG» featuring Karol G, «Te Felicito» with Rauw Alejandro, and «Copa Vacía» featuring Manuel Turizo will be part of the album’s tracklist.
Shakira also shared some insights about the album, saying, “The making of this album has been a profound journey. Each song I’ve written has been a personal reflection, transforming my emotions into music. Singing these songs feels like turning tears into diamonds and vulnerability into strength,” said the singer in a press release distributed by Sony Music Spain.
As the release date for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran approaches – it’s set for March 22nd – Shakira has started revealing details about other new songs. She’s talked a lot about «Cohete,» which will be her second song with Rauw Alejandro after their hit «Te felicito.» That song really kicked off this whole era of empowerment and heartbreak that’s taken her to the top.
“Cohete is a light pop, a bit lighter. It’s a song with a retro sound, a bit of funk, but all mixed within a dance and electronic context. This song is pure bass and beats… and Rauw,” says Shakira, revealing that behind this track hides a new featuring with the Puerto Rican artist. “It’s the second song I’ve done with Rauw Alejandro. All those ingredients, in addition to the fantasy and metaphor, which are a hallmark of the song, give it another personality and set it apart from other genres and songs on the album.”

Another thing Shakira will introduce with her album are four different editions released simultaneously on vinyl and digital platforms. Each edition will have its own cover: diamond, ruby, emerald, and sapphire.
Each represents something different. The emerald stands for confidence, the ruby for passion, the sapphire for vulnerability, and the diamond for strength and resilience,” Shakira explained on her social media.

Additionally, Shakira also revealed in the same Instagram post that the album will consist of a total of 16 songs, including a remix of one of her previously released tracks. We’ll have to wait and see, but it’s unlikely that Shakira won’t make a big splash with her highly anticipated new album on March 22nd.
