María Becerra has left us in shock after revealing heartbreaking news. The Quilmes singer was pregnant, but she shared that she had to undergo emergency surgery due to an ectopic pregnancy.
“Yesterday, I had to undergo a procedure because I was going through an ectopic pregnancy. Fortunately, everything went well, and Juli and I are already at home, where I’m recovering surrounded by love. It was an unexpected moment; I felt severe abdominal pain after finishing rehearsal yesterday, and we went to the ER, where we both learned that the pregnancy was ectopic and accompanied by bleeding. It was emotionally tough for us, as we were longing to become parents and have a baby (which is still in our future plans since we have so much love and a whole life ahead of us). Thankfully, the incredible medical team and the support of our family and closest friends helped us feel strong and in good hands,” the artist shared on her social media profile.

Becerra’s motivation for making this news public was to prevent the “spread of fake news,” wanting her followers and the rest of the world to hear it from her and her partner, fellow Argentine artist Rei.
An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of the uterus. Most ectopic pregnancies develop in the fallopian tubes, which carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. This can lead to multiple risks, including rupture of the fallopian tube and potentially life-threatening internal bleeding.
Typically, ectopic pregnancies are not viable, according to the women’s health platform Bloom. Although a few ectopic pregnancies may progress, the norm is that complications arise, and they don’t go beyond the first trimester. Detecting an ectopic pregnancy early and treating it properly is essential; otherwise, it can have serious consequences for the pregnant woman’s health.
At LOS40 US, we want to express our full support and strength to María Becerra and Rei, and we wish the Argentine artist a speedy recovery.
