In today’s fast-paced music scene, where there’s constant demand and consumption, it’s easy for artists to feel like releasing new songs, albums, or singles has become a race to see who can top the charts. And with that can come rivalry between artists. That’s why it’s so nice to see when, instead of competing, artists support each other. This was the case with J Balvin, who, despite his own success, took a moment to express his admiration for a particular artist. But who was it?
It was none other than the biggest star of the year: Karol G. The Colombian singer made history this past July by performing four sold-out shows at the new Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Spain, as part of her record-breaking Mañana Será Bonito Tour.
On top of that, Karol G has recently released a track that many are already calling the song of the summer. ‘Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido’ hit the top of the LOS40 chart in eleven different countries on Saturday, July 27, earning her another Global Number 1, which she repeated the following week.

Speaking about J Balvin, the Colombian artist shared his thoughts on his fellow countrywoman. “I want to take this chance to congratulate her because she’s really breaking barriers with everything that’s happening. We have one of the world’s most important female artists and the most influential Latina, and that’s something we should all celebrate,” he said in an interview.
After these words of admiration, the interviewer mentioned that J Balvin also had a hand in his friend’s success. However, Balvin modestly disagreed: “I just know that I care about her a lot and support her. Every artist gets to where they are because they’ve pushed through and persevered. What I really appreciate is that I get to witness the success of these incredible artists today,” he concluded.

The friendship between Karol G and J Balvin goes back several years. Both are Colombians with a passion for urban music. They’ve even worked together on songs like ‘Location’ and ‘Mi Cama,’ among others.
