The Mexican artist has become a global reference in Mexican Music

Peso Pluma finally emerged from his seclusion this month after several weeks of disappearance following his much-discussed breakup with Nicki Nicole. And the Mexican artist envisions a 2024 filled with projects, as he has already announced his 2024 Exodus Tour in the United States and his upcoming album, which will bear the same name.

Despite speculations in the media, the artist confirmed upon his return to the stage that he was indeed putting all his efforts into making new music.

«We see a lot of damn controversy, a lot of damn controversy. And I’m going to tell you one thing. I’m here on this stage because of you. We, each and every one of us [points to the band that makes up Peso Pluma], continue making music for you. And as long as I’m alive and all of Peso Pluma, every member of this family, we will continue to tear down every damn stage no matter what happens, bastards. We’ll keep carrying our Mexican flag wherever we are,» shouted the interpreter of «LADY GAGA» at his first concert of March 2024.

The artist from Jalisco hasn’t stopped releasing hits, not even during the most controversial time of the breakup. In the last month, he has surprised us with tracks like «A Tu Manera,» «No Son Klle,» and «La People II,» collaborations with reference artists such as Junior H, Duki, or Santa Fe Klan.

But those might not be his only collaborative works, as an indirect message from Drake, one of the contemporary masters of hip-hop, has set off all alarms.

Drake’s Message to Peso Pluma

A few months ago when we interviewed Peso Pluma on LOS40, the Mexican confessed to us that Drake, along with Kanye West, was one of the US artists he would like to collaborate with in the future.

Of course, the Mexican has seized his rise to rub shoulders with some of the most influential hip-hop stars – let’s just remember how he casually shared a drink with Jay-Z at the last Grammys of 2024. And just last week, we also saw him with Tyler the Creator at a private Louis Vuitton event.

Now, how do we know he’s up to something with the author of «Hotline Bling»? Because it was Drake himself who reposted an image of Peso Pluma in the studio with his fellow artist Chino Pacas, along with a mysterious message: «Almost that time…»

What does the Canadian rapper mean here? Is it almost time for what? To record something together? To announce a new collaboration? Only time will tell!
