Undoubtedly, Peso Pluma has become one of the most listened-to artists of the moment. The numbers accumulated on streaming platforms and music charts are confirming it. He’s also the artist with the most number ones and the most songs on the Lista LOS40 USA. The «Doble P» has introduced regional Mexican music to territories where it was once completely unknown, making him a source of pride for many in his country.

In his interview with LOS40, the Mexican artist has revealed various interesting details about his career, Mexican music, meeting Karol G and with which artist from the U.S. he’d like to collaborate with.

The Rise of Mexican Artists

«This year, we came to change the history of Mexican music and, above all, to plant a seed for the next generation. There is a lot of talent in Mexico. Many artists have contributed to making things happen,» he declares. Peso Pluma is not only one of the most successful artists of the moment but also owns his own record label, «Doble P Records,» which supports other Mexican singers like Jasiel Nuñez in following in the footsteps of the great star. Outside of his label, the most influential artist in his eyes is Natanael Cano, who popularized the so-called corridos tumbados.

«Natanael Cano has always been an inspiration; I will always see him as the king, the one who changed things for corridos. Having a friendship with him, good companionship, is giving that message to the new generations. It’s not necessary to see who’s better than someone; it’s about taking each other’s hands and moving upward.»

His Encounter with Karol G and His Opinion on Rosalía

Peso Pluma describes it as an incredible experience to participate in Karol G’s «Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season)» with «QLONA» and to meet her in person.

«For me, it was a dream to work with her. It was magical because we did it remotely; she sent me the song, and I already had some vocals recorded with Ovy On The Drums. I had to change some things, and she told me she had time. She is super humble. I met her in New York before she performed at MetLife, and it’s very motivating to arrive at the stadium and be received like that. She’s very human, an amazing person who gave me a lot of advice.»

Another female artist he has been paying a lot of attention to lately is none other than Rosalía. «For me, her show was the best at Coachella. She’s doing something I can’t describe. Every single thing she does is inspiring,» he says.

Future Projects

The «Doble P» tells LOS40 that his latest album, ‘Génesis’ (2023), which has reached the top positions on streaming platforms, has been conceived by him as a new era in the music of his country, hence the name. In fact, the artist has confirmed that he is already preparing his new musical project for 2024. We can’t wait to hear it!

His Dream Collaboration with U.S. Artists

Recently, Peso Pluma has been on an extensive tour throughout the United States, and he has become one of the most listened-to artists in the country. Therefore, we couldn’t resist finding out which artists from our country he would like to collaborate with.

«There are many; my biggest inspiration has always been Kanye West, and then Drake. For me, both of them are my biggest idols. If I ever have the opportunity to meet them, it will be a dream come true.» Collaborations that would undoubtedly top all the charts!
