By now, TikTok has become the favorite social media platform for artists to promote their songs. If they play their cards right, some of them can even witness their songs becoming global hits. Just ask Iñigo Quintero, who, in 2023, saw his song «Si no estás» rise to the top of the global charts. 

On TikTok, anything can happen; you just have to go along with the algorithm and hope for its magic. Once again this year, the platform has revealed who the most-followed musical artists in the world areThere are some noteworthy observations. First, the singer with the most followers gained fame through the platform itself. Second, eight out of the top ten names are women. And third, only two artists sing in Spanish.

10. BLACKPINK 

Starting off the top 10 with 47 million followers is the hottest girl band around. BLACKPINK has solidified its position as one of the biggest music phenomena of the last decade, thanks to chart-toppers like «How You Like That» and «Pink Venom.»

On their TikTok account, Jisoo, Lisa, Rosé, and Jennie share moments from their concerts and interviews. While they could engage in more natural trends, fans love seeing the girls on stage, and their official account is perfect for that.

9. Karol G 

At this point, Karol G has shattered all records. The Colombian superstar has become one of the most sought-after artists in the music industry, thanks to the incredible success of her recent albums. In fact, Mañana Será Bonito even bagged the Latin Grammy for Best Album of the Year in 2023. What’s even more impressive is that she’s one of the few Spanish-language artists on this list. 

La bichota has an impressive 50 million followers on her TikTok account. What resonates the most with her audience is how down-to-earth she is with her fans, sharing reflections and moments from her daily life. Indeed, authenticity is highly valued on TikTok.

8. Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish has become a massive sensation among Generation Z. Her amazing songs have really struck a chord with her fans. But that’s not all; they’ve also become quite curious about her personal life. 

And what better way to satisfy their curiosity than through her TikTok account? Billie Eilish has 51 million followers there. In her videos, you can see not only promotional content but also fun challenges. Although it’s worth noting that she hasn’t been very active on the platform lately.

7. Loren Gray

Next up, we have the first artist who got her start on TikTok, well, technically, she started on Musica.ly (as the platform was previously known). Loren Gray was clear about her dream of becoming a singer and used her social media fame to secure her first record deal back in 2018. And she’s done really well for herself! 

Songs like «Queen» have been big hits. In 2023, she released her debut studio album, Guilty, where she combines various music genres with pop. Right now, Loren has an impressive 54 million followers.
