Now it’s finally here: Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) is out! And it’s a statement of intent. Karol G wants to continue holding her throne as the queen Latin urban music (although she has always made it clear that she doesn’t mind sharing it with her fellow artists). And this album is proof of that.

The artist has made it clear from the very beginning that this new work is the B-side of Mañana Será Bonito. The artist explores the same sounds and emotionally remains in the same place. However, each of the songs on Bichota Season holds its own secrets and nuances. Featuring collaborations with artists like Young Miko, Tïësto, and Peso Pluma, the album functions perfectly as a second part of her previous work. Let’s analyze each track from this great release, Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season), as Karol G kicks off her tour in the U.S. today

BICHOTAG

«Oh my God, this is so amazing. I am super happy, wow.» With these words, Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season). And they’re a strong statement of intent. The Colombian artist makes it clear right from the start, speaking in English, that she’s here to conquer the world. Karol G has indeed become one of the most important musical stars in the world. In fact, she has been nominated for the VMAs as the best artist of the year alongside other Anglo-American stars like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Doja Cat.

In «BICHOTAG,» Karol G underscores her current performance: she’s one of the reigning queens of the music industry. «Number ones like stamps in my passport. Every song I drop is a smashing hit,» the artist declares at one point. Karol practically raps throughout the song. She wants to set the stage for the album to kick off. A way to catch her breath and let the rhythm rise.

OKI DOKI

The second song, «OKI DOKI,» follows the sound of the first. The touch of her inseparable Sky Rompiendo is evident, but there are also Japanese references that are so popular among urban artists today. In fact, the song starts and ends with a Japanese expression: ヘイ!いいよ (Hey, okay). This is something echoed in the chorus with the «OKI DOKI.»

But at the end of the song, we can also hear a melody sung by Japanese voices: «I have my own life. You’re bad. My life is mine. I feel better than I thought. I’m having more fun than before.» The artist says it in all languages: she doesn’t need anyone to be happy.

MI EX TENÍA RAZÓN

It’s in the third song of the album that we encounter a 180-degree turn. Karol G pays homage to the Texan music that catapulted the first great Latin pop princess, Selena Quintanilla, to fame throughout the United States. The artist opts for one of the most romantic lyrics, laden with pop references like «Ugly Betty,» to use a melody that reminds us of songs like «Si una vez or Como una flor.» The song even ends with a fade-out, a very nineties detail. Karol doesn’t miss a beat.

S91

«S91,» the first song released from this album, was the perfect introduction to what this new work would be. «S91» brings together the two main themes of the album: the cost of fame and the love for her loved ones. Karol G describes how people approach her for their own interests, how connected she is with her fandom, and how important it is for her to stay grounded. To wrap it up, the star (who always thanks God for everything that happens to her) quotes one of her mother’s favorite passages from the testament.

«My mom used to take us to school all our lives and taught us Psalm 91 to say it after leaving home every morning (she said they were sacred words of protection),» the singer explained in an interview.

QLONA ft. Peso Pluma

It was only a matter of time before Karol G and Peso Pluma, two heavyweights in the Latin music industry, collaborated. The Colombian and the Mexican artist have come together for «QLONA.» But far from singing Mexican corridos, it’s him who has adapted to her style. And we have to admit, it suits him quite well.

Karol G and Peso Pluma opt for a romantic reggaeton song filled with sensuality. The artists describe a night of passion. Without a doubt, one of the most anticipated tracks on the album.

UNA NOCHE EN MEDELLÍN – REMIX ft. Cris MJ & Ryan Castro

The remix of «One Night in Medellín» was one of the most awaited songs on the album. The track by Cris MJ and Ryan Castro featuring Karol G was announced in 2022. However, due to coordination issues, it wasn’t released. Nevertheless, Karol G had performed the song live. Now, almost a year later, the Colombian artist wanted to gift her fans with this version.

One of the catchiest songs on this new album that fans are sure to enjoy. A tribute to the nightlife in Medellín.

ME TENGO QUE IR ft. Kali Uchis

Karol G had already expressed her desire to collaborate with Kali Uchis. So, it was only a matter of time before they joined forces. If Karol had brought Peso Pluma into her realm, this time it’s Kali Uchis who has drawn her into her sound. Choosing a chill beat where percussion takes center stage, the two artists embrace lyrics that emphasize the importance of knowing when to end a relationship.

GATITA GANGSTER ft. Dei V

We’re nearing the end of the album to find a new alter ego of Karol’s. She’s been La Bichota, Catwoman, or simply Carolina. Now, she becomes Gatita Gangster to sing alongside Dei V. An extension of Catwoman. Just like the woman she described in her previous album: someone who seeks out the guy she likes to stick with and never part. Karol uses the «gata» (cat) persona to bring out her more sensual side.

DISPO ft. Young Miko

Now, we arrive at one of the most sisterly songs on the album. Karol G collaborates with Young Miko to tell the story of a girl who has just ended a toxic relationship and wants to have fun. However, she’s clear about what she doesn’t want: a man who holds her back

Ever since Karol G released «TUSA,» she has become the queen of heartbreak songs. And, of course, this new album wouldn’t be complete without our small dose.

PROVENZA – REMIX ft Tïësto

«PROVENZA» has brought Karol G a lot of joy in recent years. The song, which became an anthem and led her album Mañana Será Bonito, has a new life thanks to one of the world’s most famous producers: Tïësto. A grand finale for the album.

Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) is an extension of her previous work. An expansion. A DLC. It’s the same universe, with the same Karol G and the same essence. And we have to admit, it works. Especially considering that Karol’s era still has plenty of life left in it.
