Ever since Shakira left everyone stunned with her 10-minute performance a the 2023 MTV VMAs, there has been massive anticipation for the release of her new song. Rumor has it that this song could be the closest thing to the launch of her new album.

While we await the unconfirmed news, what the teaser for her new track, «El Jefe,» has made clear is that the Colombian artist possesses undeniable versatility and can succeed in any genre she sets her mind to.

In this case, the Barranquilla native is embracing regional Mexican music, a genre she had not explored in her long career, proving that she can also excel in this territory. «El Jefe» is her new strong endeavor, and despite many speculating that her debut in this genre might be with Peso Pluma, it is ultimately Fuerza Regida who will accompany her on this song.

In addition, Shakira shines in this brief snippet where we can hear, «Soñando con irte del barrio, tienes todo para ser millonario…» («Dreaming of leaving the neighborhood, you have everything to become a millionaire…»). She showcases the choreography that will be part of the music video for «El Jefe.» Wearing knee-high, stiletto cowboy boots and a matching cowgirl hat with a fringed dress made from just the right fabric, the artist once again triumphs with her dance moves.

In a situation very similar to what we experienced with Black Eyed Peas’ «Girl Like Me» and its performer, this track is set to become one of the most danced-to songs on all social media platforms.

Adding to all of this is the immense popularity the song will have if its intended recipient and the meaning behind it are confirmed, which many already attribute to her ex-partner and father of her children. We have very little time left to fully enjoy Shakira’s new song, which will be released on September 20.

Is anyone else dying to see the music video, or is it just us? Have you seen the dance? Are you going to share it on social media?
