Shakira Keeps Making History On Billboard

The Colombian singer is the first artist to occupy the top three spots on the Latin Pop Airplay chart in the same week

Shakira is an artist who never takes «no» for an answer. She has proven that she is unstoppable and determined in her career and has taken her empowering motto, «Las mujeres no lloran, las mujeres facturan» (Women don’t cry, women invoice), quite seriously. 

This year, the Colombian artist has experienced a remarkable evolution in the urban music scene. Despite the rumors and heartache following her divorce from Spanish football player Gerard Piqué, she has (indeed) turned her tears not only profitable but keeps breaking records –and breaking the internet too, demonstrating who rules the scene.

  • Most played Latin music title on Spotify in 24 hours with 14,393,324 streams.
  • Most viewed on YouTube in 24 hours with 63,000,000 views.
  • Fastest to reach 100 million views on YouTube, in just two days and approximately 22 hours.
  • Most streamed song on Spotify in a week, getting an impressive 80,646,962 streams.

Even after six months since its release, the video has continued to rise in popularity, accumulating over 595 million views on YouTube.

This same year, Shakira was recognized as the ‘Women of the Year’ at the first-ever ‘Mujeres Latinas en la Música’ Billboard event. This special Billboard event aims to celebrate the achievements of Latin women in the music industry, including female artists, creatives, and executives who are making a significant impact and driving positive change. 

And now, Shakira makes history by occupying the top 3 places in Latin Pop Airplay simultaneously, a remarkable victory in the almost 30 years of the chart.
