Kenia Os has her fans eagerly awaiting her next song, «Ojo x Ojo,» which is set to premiere tomorrow, on October 26th. On October 2nd, the Mexican singer shared a video on her social media platforms where we can hear a snippet of her new song playing in the background. In the video, she sings: “Estas sufriendo por , no es por nada pero yo disfruto que el karma te gane. Baby no es maldad, ni es por engreída, peroojo por ojo, diente por diente‘, es ley de la vida.”

Which translates to, “You’re suffering because of me, it’s not for nothing, but I take pleasure in karma catching up with you. Baby, it’s not malice, nor is it conceit, but ‘eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,’ it’s the law of life.” Ten days later, Kenia posted another series of photos, giving us a glimpse of what her music video might look like. In these photos, she’s dressed in pink, wearing her distinctive outfits, and what stands out is the ‘Pink Motel.’

Just a few days ago, she unveiled the release date along with more photos, this time seemingly from inside the ‘Pink Motel.’ In the caption, she wrote, ‘Ojo x ojo / October 26.’ Two days ago, Kenia delighted us with a brief video showing the motel’s exterior, followed by a shot of a room with a rabbit in front of the door, and lastly, what appears to be an ‘electrical storm’ inside the room. Undoubtedly, the singer has been planning a surprise that we will finally get to see tomorrow.

But what does part of the expression Kenia uses for the title of her song mean?

«Ojo x Ojo»

While the singer hasn’t revealed the song’s theme, the title probably refers to the famous expression with a similar name: ‘Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.’ This phrase is often associated with the idea of retributive justice, where the punishment corresponds directly to the offense committed. However, it can also be interpreted as a call for revenge, which could potentially lead to an ongoing cycle of conflict.

This is an ancient legal principle also known as the ‘law of retaliation’ found in various cultures. Essentially, it means that the penalty should match the offense. In modern legal systems, the pursuit of exact reciprocity or revenge has largely been replaced by seeking appropriate punishment for crimes, such as imprisonment.

Without a doubt, Kenia Os may be delivering a song about revenge, and given her usual song themes, it could revolve around the concept of romantic retribution. Whatever the case may be, we can be confident it will be an outstanding hit!
