Peso Pluma with Jasiel Nuñez and Junior H, have collaborated on a song that, unlike others by the Mexican artists, exudes a sense of nostalgia. We all know it, Mexican music has been dominating international charts this year, and it’s gaining popularity every day. The same applies to Peso Pluma, who has been tirelessly working and conquering international charts without mercy.
Just last week, he released «Ex-Special» alongside Jhayco, and the week before that, «Ojos Azules» in collaboration with Blessd. He also featured on «Qlona» on Karol G‘s Bichota Season album.
The song was written by Jasiel Nuñez, who’s also signed to Pluma’s Double P Records label. Nuñez and Junior are both regular collaborators with La Double P. Nuñez made two appearances on Pluma’s Génesis album, contributing to «Rosa Pastel» and «Lagunas.» On the other hand, Junior H, the rising star in corridos tumbados, has joined forces with Peso on tracks like «Luna,» «El Tsurito,» and «Lady Gaga.»
This song revolves around a promise to forget someone, but it’s a promise that proves impossible to keep. Despite earnest efforts to move on, the singer finds themselves persistently seeking that special person, even when they acknowledge it’s not in their best interest.
The protagonist characterizes themselves as bipolar, without fully understanding himself. At times, driven by intense passion and the irresistible urge to reconnect with their former love. However, he eventually come to the realization that those expressions of affection are ‘insincere.’ The song portrays the inner conflict of the protagonist, torn between their yearning to reunite with a beloved individual and the necessity of prioritizing their own well-being and personal aspirations.
Because at night I was weak and couldn’t help but call your phone
I promised I would forget you, but I failed, I searched for you again
Because at night I was weak and couldn’t help but call your phone
Sorry, you don’t know, but I… love you with my heart, I love you with my heart
It’s okay, the truth is, sometimes I don’t understand myself, I’m bipolar
I lit a joint and started to fly, and I forgot why I was feeling bad
And there I go, up and down, there’s no fault, your love left me crazy, your love left me crazy
But to be honest, these days, what I prefer is to think of myself first
I’m not interested in any ‘I love you’ because it’s not true
And to be more accurate, I’d rather make money than waste my time on pure stories
