Julio Iglesias Responds to Sexual Harassment Allegations

After days of silence, the singer addressed the accusations during a phone conversation with ¡Hola! 

Julio Iglesias, one of the most influential figures in Latin music history and among the best-selling Spanish-language artists of all time, is now at the center of serious allegations. A recent investigation published by ElDiario.es, in collaboration with Univisión, brings to light legal complaints filed against the singer for alleged sexual violence and human trafficking.

According to the report, two former employees submitted formal complaints to Spain’s National Court Prosecutor’s Office. They have the support of the international organization Women’s Link Worldwide. The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between January and October 2021 at properties owned by Iglesias in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas.

The accusations go beyond sexual misconduct. They reportedly include human trafficking for forced labor and servitude, sexual harassment and assault, physical and verbal abuse, intimidation, workplace rights violations, and personal injuries. One of the most striking aspects of the case is the inclusion of an alleged aggravating factor: the involvement of a criminal group.

While Iglesias is named as the primary accused, the complaints suggest that two housekeepers may have acted as collaborators in carrying out the alleged acts. At this stage, the investigation is ongoing, but the case has already sparked widespread attention due to the gravity of the accusations and the global stature of the artist involved.

After days of silence, Julio Iglesias briefly addressed the accusations during a phone conversation with ¡Hola! According to the outlet, the singer sounded calm and composed, though his voice reportedly reflected the emotional weight of the situation.

Iglesias stated that he will provide a clear and straightforward response to the case, but explained that he does not believe this is the right moment to speak publicly. Still, he emphasized that a statement will come in the near future. For now, he is fully focused on preparing his legal defense, with the aim of clarifying all aspects of the complaint.

The artist also stressed that his priority is to ensure the facts are thoroughly examined and that the authenticity of the events and testimonies involved is properly assessed. Until then, his approach is to remain reserved and allow the legal process to move forward before making any further public comments.
