Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, in connection with an alleged assault that occurred in February 2023 at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district.
The incident involved music producer Abe Diaw. He claims that Brown struck him multiple times on the head with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle. Then punched and kicked him while he was on the floor. The New York Post reports that Diaw alleges that he lost consciousness during the attack and sustained serious injuries, including torn ligaments and cuts, which required hospitalization and the use of crutches during recovery.
According to the Daily Post, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 2 a.m. on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, in connection with the nightclub incident on February 19, 2023.

In October 2023, Diaw filed a civil lawsuit against Brown seeking $16 million in damages. He alleged that the assault was unprovoked and caused lasting physical and emotional harm.
At the time of his arrest, Brown was preparing to embark on his ‘Breezy Bowl XX’ tour, with scheduled performances across the UK. This includes dates in Manchester, London, and Glasgow. However, it is currently unclear how the arrest will impact the tour schedule.

Brown remains in custody as the investigation continues.
This isn’t the first time Chris Brown has been involved in a violent incident. One of the most widely known cases happened in 2009, when he pleaded guilty to felony assault after being accused of domestic violence against Rihanna. He was later sentenced to five years of probation and given a level-one restraining order.
The incident had a lasting impact on his career. Although he’s kept a large fan base around the world, he’s continued to face intense media scrutiny. That attention recently resurfaced with the release of the docuseries Chris Brown: A History of Violence. However, Brown has publicly criticized the series and has even filed a lawsuit against Warner Bros.
