Mexican musical group Los Ángeles Azules reported that their equipment transport truck was robbed at a fake checkpoint while returning from a concert in Tabasco, Mexico. The incident took place on Friday, May 9, at kilometer 61 of the México–Puebla highway, heading toward Mexico City (CDMX).
According to the statement shared on their official platforms, the truck was carrying the band’s musical instruments and audio equipment. Then, it was intercepted by what appeared to be an official roadblock—only to later be confirmed as a false one. The group described the act as an assault and stated that they are currently in the process of filing a formal complaint with the authorities.
“We are in the process of presenting the corresponding report to the competent authorities,” the group said. “We make a public call to both state and federal authorities to take urgent action and guarantee safe passage on our highways.”

Although the statement does not confirm the total value of the stolen goods, it highlights growing concerns about safety on major roads. Especially for artists and crews traveling across the country or countries.
Los Ángeles Azules closed their message by thanking fans for their ongoing support and solidarity, underscoring the importance of a safe and secure environment for those who work in the live music and entertainment industry.
The group, known for their cumbia hits and decades-long career, continues touring throughout Mexico and internationally. This event adds to a broader conversation about the need for stronger protections for artists and their teams while traveling between performances.
Los Ángeles Azules have continued to stay relevant over the years by delivering hit after hit. In recent times, they’ve teamed up with some of today’s biggest names in urban and pop music. Among their standout collaborations are Nicki Nicole on ‘Otra Noche’, María Becerra on ‘El Amor de mi Vida’, Emilia on ‘Perdonarte, ¿para qué?’, and most frequently, Kenia OS on ‘Una Nada Más.‘
