Why Cardi B Has to Pay Spousal Support to Offset

Despite his high income, the rapper requested the support

Cardi B and Offset are going through a very public divorce, and things have just taken an unexpected turn. After months of silence, a judge in Georgia has ruled in Offset’s favor, ordering Cardi B to pay spousal support to her ex-husband. The news has surprised many in the music industry, especially considering that both artists have significant incomes.

Offset initially seemed open to a split without financial conflict. But later, he changed his legal approach and requested financial support, arguing that there’s a major difference between his net worth and Cardi B’s. While court documents don’t mention an exact figure, the ruling means Cardi will now make regular support payments to Offset.

The judge also made decisions regarding the couple’s children. The court granted joint legal custody, but the kids will live primarily with Cardi B. According to sources close to the case, this arrangement was suggested by Offset himself, who said the children would have more stability staying with their mother.

When it comes to legal expenses, both will cover their own costs, as originally agreed. This part of the arrangement remained unchanged in the court’s decision.

Why Does Cardi B Have to Pay?

Cardi B’s net worth is estimated between $80 and $100 million, while Offset’s is around $30 million. That financial gap played a big role in the court’s decision. Under Georgia law, spousal support can be granted when there’s a significant economic imbalance between partners.

Sources close to the case revealed that Offset is “not willing to give up his luxury lifestyle,” which is why he chose to request spousal support. While he is a millionaire in his own right, he argued that the financial support was justified based on the standard of living he enjoyed during the marriage.

This legal turn has sparked discussion among fans and legal experts and could become a high-profile example of how financial differences are handled in celebrity divorces within the music industry. So far, neither Cardi B nor Offset have made public statements about the ruling.
