Emilia Embraces Cumbia with Los Ángeles Azules in ‘Perdonarte, ¿Para Qué?’: Lyrics in English

The Argentinian has teamed up with one of Mexico's most renowned cumbia groups

Emilia is currently one of Argentina’s leading artists, thanks to hits like «La Original,» «No Se Ve,» or «Una Foto Remix.» With a string of successful releases in recent months, she has solidified her position as a prominent figure in Spanish pop music. However, Emilia isn’t afraid to step out of her comfort zone and explore different musical genres.

In this vein, Emilia has teamed up with one of Mexico’s most renowned cumbia groups: Los Ángeles Azules, a beloved band across Mexico. Through this collaboration, the Argentine singer has lent her voice to the emotive tale of heartbreak in «Perdonarte, ¿Para Qué?» (Forgive you, what for?).

It’s important to remember that Emilia started her singing career in a cumbia group during her teenage years. From 2016 to 2018, she was a member of the Uruguayan cumbia band Rombai, alongside Fer Vázquez. This genre is highly popular in the region and served as Emilia’s gateway into the music industry.

Meanwhile, Los Ángeles Azules have been teaming up with some of the most prominent voices in contemporary Spanish pop for their new tracks. Besides Emilia, they’ve collaborated with Nicki Nicole on «Otra Noche,» Natalia Lafourcade on «Nunca Es Suficiente,» and María Becerra on «El Amor de Mi Vida.»

«Perdonarte, ¿Para Qué?» Lyrics in English

[Pre-Chorus]

Get over me, forget me
And think that what you lived with me was just a dream
Get it together
There won’t be any more pages of the best story you’ve read
With that, I bid you farewell
Please, don’t call me anymore
I don’t even want you as a friend

[Chorus]

Forgive you, what for? For you to fail me again?
No, thank you very much, that joke doesn’t amuse me anymore
You’re too late, baby, I warned you so much
But you didn’t want to listen and now the plane has left
Forgive you, what for? For you to fail me again?
No, thank you very much, that joke doesn’t amuse me anymore
You’re too late, baby, I warned you so much
But you didn’t want to listen and now the plane has left

[Post-Chorus]

Oh, it’s gone

[Interlude: El Doc Mejía]
[Pre-Chorus]

Get over me, forget me
And think that what you lived with me was just a dream
Get it together
There won’t be any more pages of the best story you’ve read
With that, I bid you farewell (I bid you farewell)
Please, don’t call me anymore (Don’t call me)
I don’t even want you as a friend

[Chorus]

Forgive you, what for? For you to fail me again?
No, thank you (Thank you), that joke doesn’t amuse me anymore (Amuse me)
You’re too late, baby, I warned you so much
But you didn’t want to listen and now the plane has left
Forgive you, what for? For you to fail me again?
No, thank you (Thank you), that joke doesn’t amuse me anymore (Amuse me)
You’re too late, baby, I warned you so much
But you didn’t want to listen and now the plane has left

[Post-Chorus]

Oh, it’s gone

[Outro: El Doc Mejía]
