Besides performing Abracadabra and Killah, Lady Gaga stopped by Saturday Night Live to promote her new album, Mayhem, which was released on Friday, March 7. However, rather than focusing solely on her new music, the singer aimed to showcase a new personal phase. Her energy and humor filled the show from start to finish, with plenty of nods to her recent «failures.»

«I know you might think I’m here to promote my album, Mayhem, but I’m actually here to remind you that I’m an incredible actress. I choose films that showcase my talent as a serious actor, movies like Joker 2. Apparently, people thought it was amazing. Joaquin [Phoenix] and I were even nominated for a Razzie, which is an award for the worst movies of the year. So, we won the award for Worst On-Screen Duo,» Germanotta began, poking fun at herself.

A self-deprecating joke that she handled with ease: «Just kidding. I love winning things. My Razzie brings me one step closer to an EGORT. It’s like an EGOT [Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony], but it hurts. Tonight, I promise to act, sing, and not make Joker 3,» Lady Gaga quipped before a delighted audience.

Looking Back at 2013

The artist also referenced her controversial SNL performance in 2013, when she shared the stage with R. Kelly, who is currently in prison on charges of sex trafficking.

«The last time I hosted SNL, I was 27 years old. Now I’m 38, which is scientifically the best age for a female pop star. I’m so happy to be back on SNL. The last time I hosted was in 2013, and every aspect of my performance aged incredibly well. So there’s no need to Google ‘SNL 2013, Lady Gaga with R. Kelly.’ I won’t mention it because that would be bad,» she joked.

Mayhem Tour

The New York singer has set her sights on two massive shows in Latin America, where she will perform live for her fans in spectacular venues: GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City on April 26 and Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro just a week later, on May 3.

Germanotta has already put tickets on sale for her Mexico concert, marking her first scheduled date where the songs from her new album will be performed live for the first time. Her show in Brazil will be a free event at a legendary venue, where she might break attendance records for one of her concerts.
