On Monday, December 9, the nominees for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards were officially announced. The ceremony took place live on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET in Los Angeles, with comedian Jo Koy hosting the event.

The 82nd Annual Golden Globes, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), revealed its nominees during a live announcement on CBS, with actors Mindy Kaling and Morris Chestnut presenting the list. This year’s nominations brought some exciting surprises that kept audiences buzzing!

Latin and Spanish Artists Who Competed for a Golden Globe

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards highlighted several talented Latin and Spanish actors competing in top categories. Mexican actor Diego Luna was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for his role in La Máquina. Sharing the same category was Spanish actor Javier Bardem, recognized for his performance in Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

In the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television category, Colombian actress Sofía Vergara earned a nomination for her powerful role in Griselda. Representing Brazil, Fernanda Torres was nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in I’m Still Here.

Another notable name was Spanish actress Karla Sofía Gascón, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in Emilia Pérez. Rounding out the list was Liza Colón-Zayas, nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for her work on The Bear. Although born in New York, Colón-Zayas proudly honored her Puerto Rican heritage.

These nominations reflected the growing presence and recognition of Latin and Spanish talent in the global entertainment industry, making the 2025 Golden Globes a truly exciting event to remember.
