Another year celebrating the grand Latin, urban, and tropical music fiesta. The 36th edition of Premio Lo Nuestro took place on the evening of February 22nd at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The red carpet was graced by stunning looks from prominent figures in the industry such as Anitta, Bad Gyal, Don Omar, and Emilia… A night filled with stars!

The favorites were Maluma with 14 nominations and Peso Pluma with 13 out of the 38 nominations for these awards. However, both artists managed to secure 4 statuettes each, along with Shakira and Carin León. Yet, there was a clear standout winner, Karol G, who walked away with 9 awards. Undoubtedly, it’s the year of La Bichota! Another notable highlight of the night was Tini. The Argentine arrived at the gala looking spectacular in a sheer dress and sporting her new blonde hair.

TINI was nominated in three categories: Female Pop Artist of the Year, Pop-Urban Collaboration of the Year, and Pop/Urban Album of the Year. In the end, she managed to take home the award for the best album, with Cupido. This marks her fourth studio album, the first with Sony Music. The album’s title is also not a coincidence, as it truly exposes all her emotions and feelings. However, what’s been widely discussed on social media is her acceptance speech when receiving the award.

What She Said

“I can’t believe it. Hello! First of all, I want to thank everyone who voted, all the fans, and everyone who has been with me for so long. I love you all so much. Thank you very much for all the love, to everyone watching from their homes, thank you very much,” the singer began expressing as she accepted her trophy.

Cupido was a very, very special album in my life, and I think it will always be that way. Sometimes it’s good to have your heart broken, you know, something good comes out of it. And my first award at Lo Nuestro,” Tini exclaimed, creating a stir among the audience. If a breakup is going to bring you an award for the best album, then it doesn’t hurt so much, the soloist must have thought. “Women don’t cry anymore; women make money,” as Shakira said.

While expectations were already high for a collaboration between these two talented artists, they managed to exceed them with this stellar performance.
