The 2024 Oscars have been distributed, and in a big way. The night has been filled with continuous surprises, with winners that few people would have been able to guess before watching the ceremony; although with one certainty: Oppenheimer.
Christopher Nolan’s film has closed a whole cycle after being a cinematic phenomenon alongside Barbie in the summer of 2023; and while Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie’s film only managed to win one award out of all its nominations, Oppenheimer has walked away with 7 statuettes. In other words, it has been the top winner of this edition.
Christopher Nolan won for Best Director, Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, and Best Editing, Soundtrack, and Cinematography, in addition to the Best Soundtrack.
The only title that closely followed it was another strong contender for triumph: Poor Creatures, by Yorgos Lanthimos. This film, among other achievements, has earned Emma Stone her second Oscar.
Moreover, the Oscars (including the Vanity Fair afterparty) have been full of glamour and elegance, as some of the big names in the film and music industry posed on the red carpet with iconic looks, like Vanessa Hudgens (who took advantage of the ceremony to make a pregnancy reveal), Becky G, Bad Bunny (who appeared onstage to present the Best International Film), Sydney Sweeney, or Kylie Jenner, among others.
