Without a doubt, this week’s spotlight has been on Rosalía, who chose to release a new and highly anticipated song on her birthday (September 25). She hasn’t revealed if it’s a track from her upcoming album or just a special gift for the occasion, but it’s certainly got everyone buzzing.
That very song, Omega, which she dropped alongside Raphie Choo, opened the playlist for her birthday party, held in Paris surrounded by all kinds of celebrities. From Emilia to the Jenner sisters, Camila Cabello, Anya Taylor-Joy, Irina Shayk, and Gigi Hadid.
Many images from the party have circulated, but what stood out were the trays with cigarettes and matches featuring the Greek letter that inspired the song’s title, alongside the faces of the two singers and a verse from the new track: «I don’t drink, I don’t smoke. I don’t consume, and I flaunt it.»
The playlist started with her recent release and included a few more tracks from her new favorite, Ralphie Choo. This name was joined by many other artists, some of whom guests likely had to look up on Spotify to hear for the first time.
It was a highly eclectic selection, featuring everything from Venezuelan singer-songwriter Oscar D’León to Italian electronic artist Ananaku, Jamaican reggae artist Beenie Man, New York rapper Cash Cobain, Dominican bachata duo Monchy & Alexandra, and experimental music from Korean-American artist Yaeyi.
Clearly, there was music for all tastes, carefully curated for the occasion.
