Rauw Alejandro’s ‘Se fue’ Duet with Laura Pausini Is on the Way!

This comes after the buzz created by the Puerto Rican artist's rendition at the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards

Rauw Alejandro‘s performance at the Latin Grammy Awards held in Seville on November 16th was one of the most surprising moments of the night. For his act, he chose to revisit «Se fue,» Laura Pausini’s popular song, as a tribute to her being honored as the Person of the Year. His stage presence, dressed in an oversized white suit, his honest expression of heartache following his breakup with Rosalía, and the stripped-down, emotional rendition of the song, all accompanied by his tears, made his performance one of the standout and widely discussed moments of the evening. 

The reactions poured in swiftly, with Laura Pausini herself being one of the first to share her thoughts on Rauw’s interpretation: “I didn’t see that coming, and let me tell you something –I actually prefer his version over mine,” she revealed exclusively to Cadena Dial, even expressing interest in collaborating with Rauw.

Many fans of both Pausini and Alejandro joined the chorus of voices calling for a collab between the two. Now, that wish has become a reality, as confirmed by the Saturno singer in a recent interview with Chente Ydrach.

During their extensive conversation, which lasted over an hour and a half, the artist opened up about his journey, discussed his achievements and missteps, and naturally, delved into his Grammy performance: “I had this idea of including «Se fue» on my upcoming album. When we were discussing the Grammy performance and I found out that Laura was the Person of the Year, it just made perfect sense to release it,” Rauw shared. He continued, “When I met her the night before, I told her: ‘Laura, I have a surprise for you.’”

Towards the end of the interview, he shared some exciting news: “The song is now a complete collaboration with Laura Pausini; expect it soon… I decided to do it because the support was overwhelming, and people were asking for it so eagerly that Laura and I had a conversation, and we agreed to finish it together,” he revealed during the conversation.

He also discussed his plans for 2024 and opened up about some personal experiences, including the frustration he felt when rumors about his breakup with Rosalía started circulating on social media.
