Recently, ‘la Doble P’ admitted on the Jimmy Fallon show that his hairstyle was a bit of a mistake. However, in an interview with Billboard, he shared more about the backstory of this distinctive haircut. It turns out it wasn’t just an error; it wasn’t what he originally intended when he visited a barber in Colombia.
“I never trusted anyone else to cut my hair because my hair is my strength. But when I was in Medellin, Colombia, a barber there told me he’d give me a popular Medellin style. He said, ‘Just trust me.’ And then he ended up with this. I was like, ‘Dude, what did you do?’ Later, I recorded a video, saw myself, and thought, ‘Hey, it actually looks pretty cool.’”
The Hype Surrounding His Hairstyle
It’s worth noting that last year, there was a real frenzy for his look, with many people eager to get his haircut. This trend was especially strong in his home country, Mexico, where even a barber reached out to express gratitude.
“The other day, a barber from Mexico City contacted me and said, ‘Thank you for all the business you’ve brought us.’ He mentioned that 24 people had come in one day to get the Peso Pluma haircut,’” he said, surprised. And this excitement even extended to babies and pets, who were seen sporting the distinctive Peso Pluma look.
