Peso Pluma has once again revolutionized the industry with his latest studio album released on June 20th, ÉXODO. A revealing word, considering that its meaning refers to the «emigration of a crowd of people,» and that Doble P represents the triumph of him and other Mexican artists both within and outside the United States.

Although this release is going more unnoticed than his previous studio album Génesis, as no song has yet positioned itself on the main charts, several of its songs are drawing attention. ‘VINO TINTO’ is the new ‘gangsta’ offering from the Mexican ‘bad boys’: Peso Pluma along with his loyal companions, Gabito Ballesteros and Natanael Cano, who actually invented the concept of corridos tumbados.

In this song, which refers to one of the most classic types of wine, the three artists sing about a recurring theme in their songs: triumph, celebration, and drugs. Yes, just as it sounds. At the beginning of the song, they cite ‘VINO TINTO’ as a cure for wounds, but later they also call to celebrate their triumph with ‘M’ (MDMA) and cocaine.

Of course, there are also references to narcoculture, a much-criticized theme that revolves around Peso Pluma’s musical catalog. He mentions «Don Pablo Escobar» in his song, the biggest and most well-known drug trafficker in history. It’s common in the lyrics of the Jalisco native to find several references to cartels and gangs related to the business.

Once again, along with Ballesteros and Cano, they boast of having succeeded in the industry, and just as they sang in ‘AMG’ over a year ago, «they are no longer the same as yesterday.»

‘VINO TINTO’: Translation, Lyrics in English

[Instrumental Intro]

[Verse 1: Peso Pluma & Gabito Ballesteros]

Red wine to heal wounds
And I don’t forget that there were no tortillas
This bad life is over
My mind is very lit up
Batteries, potatoes, and they’re not for the stew
I saw that it didn’t go well for them alone
Many forgot that I lent them a hand
It’s not the same if they’re working with others

[Pre-Chorus: Natanael Cano]

Only I know about my shipwreck
I spent a long time parking
I’m not the same as yesterday because today is like this
Some still call me Franky

[Chorus: Peso Pluma, Gabito Ballesteros & Natanael Cano]

And little by little the M starts to hit me
And with a sip of water, I’m going to reactivate
Let the techno sound, I’m in festival mode
And I love to enjoy
Ultra-billionaire, and I’m going to listen to Eladio
I’m 77 with Coco Chanel, my dad
Hair very long like Don Pablo Escobar
And what stress? I’m relaxed

[Interlude: Natanael Cano, Gabito Ballesteros & Peso Pluma]

A-a-ay, buddy
Uh!
I’m relaxed
Up with Double P, my man
Buddy, Gabito

I’m rela-a-a-a-xed
Just like that, buddy Peso
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Pure Double P, man
Woh-oh-oh-oh-oh

[Verse 2: Gabito Ballesteros & Natanael Cano]

And it doesn’t affect me that they’re throwing at me
Green is life, and green is what we wear
When have you seen the bosses crying?
Here we are men, not clowns
Plan A was to make money
Plan B was how to waste it
Plan C was with cocaine
Jewels, hookers, and adrenaline

[Pre-Chorus: Peso Pluma]

Only I know about my shipwreck
For a long time, I was parking
I’m not the same as yesterday because this is how it is
Some still call me Franky

[Chorus: Natanael Cano, Gabito Ballesteros & Peso Pluma]

And little by little the M started to hit me
And with a sip of water, I’m going to reactivate
Let the techno sound, I’m in festival mode
And I love to enjoy
Ultra-billionaire, and I’m going to listen to Eladio
I’m 77 with Coco Chanel, my dad
Hair very long like Don Pablo Escobar
And what stress? I’m relaxed

[Outro: Natanael Cano, Gabito Ballesteros & Peso Pluma]

Yeah!
And pure Corridos Tumbados
I-I’m rela-a-a-a-xed
To hell with it (Uh!)
I’m rela-a-a-a-xed
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah-ah
