Karol G and Peso Pluma, Invited to the Met Gala?

The fashion world awaits one of the most important nights of the year, none other than the Met Gala 2024, which will take place on May 6th. An event where fashion, luxury, and exclusivity come together, led by Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Numerous celebrities and aspirants to join the jet set eagerly await the themed invitation to the gala each year. But it’s not easy to attend the Met, not even when you can afford the ticket (over $30,000). To don your best attire (sponsored, of course, by a designer from the major fashion houses), you’ll need the approval of Wintour, who truly has the final say on the guest list and the outfits they wear.

The elegant writer, who, by the way, inspired the movie The Devil Wears Prada, starring a tyrannical fashion editor played by Meryl Streep, already has several trusted guests who repeat year after year among the more than 500 attendees. Among them, Rihanna, the Kardashian clan, Blake Lively, the Hadid sisters, Jennifer Lopez, and Jared Leto have been some of the recurring protagonists of the celebration. Moreover, with the triumph of Latin music in recent years, we have also seen the guest list grow to include artists like Bad Bunny (who is organizing the gala this year), Anitta, Maluma, or Rosalía, among others.

Karol G at the Met Gala 2024?

One person we haven’t seen at the exclusive celebration yet is our Colombian diva Karol G. And the truth is, it wouldn’t surprise us to see her ascend the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art this year, as since the release of her hugely successful Mañana Será Bonito a year ago, she has been a sensation wherever she goes. She hasn’t missed an important occasion: from the Grammys to the VMAs.

It’s clear that the Medellín native has all the chances to attend the gala: she’s the it girl of the moment, and many designers would vie to dress her for the occasion. Karol maintains a good relationship with French designer Jacquemus, who has previously dressed Bad Bunny for the gala, as well as with Mugler—she attended Paris Fashion Week arm in arm with its creative director Casey Cadwallader—and Balmain, who dressed her for the Latin Grammys. Certainly, she has options to choose from and to reject.

And the fact that Wintour has Karol on her radar is undeniable. Not only because to not know that the artist is in her prime, one would have to live in a cave under a rock, but also because she graced the cover of Vogue for the first time a couple of years ago. That, coupled with the overflowing fame she has garnered in the past year both within and outside the United States, guarantees a direct ticket to the Met.

Peso Pluma, Possible Invitee to the Met

Just like Karol G, Peso Pluma has likely been the most important male Latin artist in the past year, breaking records like no one else on the charts and internationalizing Mexican music like never before. The Jalisco native has revolutionized the industry with the release of his album Génesis (2023), and since then, has lived life like any other celebrity between Los Angeles (where he currently resides), Miami, and New York.

Additionally, the Doble P has a loyal relationship with the prestigious brand Louis Vuitton, who has dressed him on some of the most important occasions of his career: from his first Grammys to his first appearance on Jimmy Fallon. Without a doubt, they could be his star sponsor and his invitation to the event. A celebration where we will no longer see him accompanied by his now ex-partner Nicki Nicole, who until then had accompanied him to all the galas with incredible outfits.

Other Latin Artists Invited to the Met Gala

In addition to Karol and Peso Pluma, which other Latin stars could we find on the Met’s red carpet? Well, most likely Bad Bunny, who is part of the organization this year along with other A-list celebrities like Zendaya and Jennifer Lopez.

Furthermore, we’ll probably see Anitta again, who will be touring in the United States this month. Another guest of honor would be Shakira, who has had one of the most striking comebacks in music and has risen to the top of the industry. Just a few weeks ago, she stirred up New York, the city where the Met is held, with a concert in Times Square.

We might also see other personalities like Maluma, J Balvin, or Rosalía return, or we might see new arrivals like Becky G or Rauw Alejandro, who have yet to attend in any edition.
