We can now say it loud and clear: Jennifer Lopez is back in business! And doubly so, because she has returned to both the music and audiovisual scenes. The artist has premiered ‘This is Me… Now’ today, her first project in 10 years, which also includes a special in collaboration with Prime Video — a film that goes beyond a typical visual album. This album is, in turn, a kind of sequel to ‘This is Me… Then,’ arriving two decades later, inspired by the same person but in a dimension that transcends the realm of romantic love as we know it.
‘This Is Me… Now: A Love Story’ is a musical film that combines the two passions of the Bronx diva: film and music. The thread that connects it all is the songs from the album, while traversing almost all the genres in which she has participated as an actress; that is, action, drama, romantic comedy, or science fiction.
What was expected as a love letter to her current husband, Ben Affleck, turns out to be a journey that begins and ends with the search for self-love to offer the best version of herself to the world and her innermost circle. This has allowed her to take control of the narrative and tell her story in the first person and on her own terms — not those of the sensationalist press of the early 2000s.

In this production, Jennifer captures a finite moment in time and reveals the true meaning of life for her: accepting and loving the person you are at each stage of life and not giving up on change or evolution, as it is an aspect that never stops. «You will never be the same person forever, and you should neither assume that you have reached the limit nor give up on yourself in this prolonged journey (and roller coaster) that is life because, at every step, you will be someone new,» she explained to LOS40.
Interestingly, the singer has been inspired by love in a year where songs about heartbreak have stood out above the average. So, in the virtual meeting we had with her on the occasion of the release of her new project (musical and cinematic), we felt compelled to ask her the following: Would you throw beef and create a song for a specific person, as Shakira did in the Bzrp Music Sessions, vol. 53?

«I have had moments like that in my life, and I understand it perfectly. I also believe that each person is different, and there are those who feel very inspired when things get tough, complicated, sad, or when their hearts are broken… I don’t,» she says.
«When I am heartbroken, I can’t (and don’t want to) do anything. When I am in love is when I truly feel inspired, so you could say that my inclination [when composing] is different. That’s why I felt tremendously inspired for this project after experiencing something incredible like reconnecting with the love of my life, an idea I never would have anticipated. I thought it had passed, and that was it, that I would have to try to turn the page and do the best I could, hoping that something amazing would come along and trusting that something wonderful was waiting for me out there. I always believed it, all this time, but when it happened, inspiration came naturally to write, get into the studio, make music, and express myself in that sense. But yes, everyone is different, and there’s always talk of a kind of ‘tortured artist,’ but that’s not me. I am the opposite of that,» she adds.
