Danna released her latest album Childstar on April 11th, marking the beginning of a new era that hinted at her evolution as an artist. This shift became evident when the Mexican singer decided to ditch her former stage name ‘Danna Paola’ in favor of the simpler ‘Danna’. Notably, her previous moniker had been associated with years of work in Mexican television, dating back to her childhood. Thus, this name change, symbolizing a significant identity shift, held deep personal significance for her. 

Childstar represents Danna’s journey of self-discovery and reinvention. It’s a mature album that demonstrates her willingness to explore new musical territories and express herself authentically. Recently, it came to light that one of her songs, «PLATONIK,» drew inspiration from a real-life experience where she found herself falling in love with a woman. Conversely, «ATARI» serves as a declaration of her most primal desires, laying bare her innermost longings.

The song’s title alludes to both the company with the same name and the video game console. Interestingly, the console, known as the Atari VCS (Video Computer System), was released in September 1977, marking the first successful video game system and introducing interchangeable cartridges. Therefore, the title suggests a sensual form of ‘playing’ with her (but in a ‘sexy’ way). This idea is reinforced by the song lyrics, making it quite evident.
