Summer Love: Essential Songs for a Hot Vacation

Every affair in these lovely times needs a fitting soundtrack, don't you think?

Summer is a time for dreaming, enjoying, running along the beach, resting (a lot), but it’s also the perfect season to let loose and do whatever we feel like at any given moment. The heat, the sea breeze, the nighttime parties, and the collective joy encourage us to seek love, to want to feel it intensely, with all our senses. And we know that music has historically played a more than important role here, being one of the most characteristic and beautiful means through which our memories are created.

So yes, at LOS40 USA, we’ve put together some songs that cannot be missing in each stage of summer romance this 2023, whether it ends well (hopefully) or ends badly (hopefully not). Ideal for listening to with your crush or for sending them if you haven’t started a conversation yet.

The Encounter

Every love story, fleeting or not, begins with that visual contact, that approach, the act of getting to know that person who arouses a pleasant sensation in you. It could be at a party, a beach club, a terrace sipping some margaritas, or even at the coffee machine if you’ve had to work this summer.

You might remember that first encounter (although, well, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the first; you might have realized later, trust the signals, destiny, you know) by listening to some of the great tunes that precisely talk about this feeling, whether you know this person previously or not, like Emilia and Ludmilla’s «No_Se_Ve.mp3,» Rauw Alejandro and Bizarrap’s «Baby Hello,» or the very viral Peso Pluma and Eslabon Armado’s «Ella Baila Sola.»

Seduction & Infatuation

If everything goes well and you flow with the summer heat, sooner or later, the temperature between you will rise, and you’ll need to be more than prepared. That’s why our favorite artists have gifted us with songs like Feid and Arcángel’s «Yandel-150» (later joined by the king Daddy Yankee in «Yankee 150»), Karol G and Aldo Ranks’ «Watati,» «El Cielo» by Sky Rompiendo, Feid, and Myke Tokers, or «Mi Lova,» also by Towers and the Spanish sensation Bad Gyal.

All these hits move to the next level, that of seduction, closeness, and complicity, calling for letting oneself go. Each one has its own style: from the Brazilian funk power of Maluma and Karol G in «Ta Ok Remix,» through the emotive «Columbia» by Quevedo, to reaching ecstasy with the bold «LALA» from our quintessential Young King, Myke Towers.

End of Summer: What Now?

Well, what goes up must come down, right? It’s clear that almost everything ends, the lights at the party go out, and it’s time to return to the much-avoided reality of these vacation days. But hey, that doesn’t mean love ends (although its intensity diminishes considerably with the speed of routine). But there are also those songs that take us back to those memories, nostalgic and enduring, whether they’re good or bad. Tracks like Saiko, Feid, Quevedo, and Mora’s «Polaris (Remix),» Bad Bunny’s «Where She Goes,» or Feid’s «Ferxxo100» paint beautiful memories on the horizon.

If you’re going through a heartbreak, don’t worry! Fortunately (or unfortunately), this year is undoubtedly the year of breakups and the hits that come after. You have plenty of songs to listen to while cursing that person who, after what happened, hasn’t left you with a good memory: from Shakira’s Bizarrap Session #52, through the Colombian divas’ «TQG,» «Copa Vacía» alongside Manuel Turizo, or practically any song that Anuel AA has released lately.

And you, what memories will this summer leave you with? Let’s hope they’re all good!
