Karol G has shown through the years to have an extraordinary and unique talent to share her emotions through her songs. The Colombian singer has given us great hits such as “Tusa,” “Provenza,” “Ocean” and the iconic breakup drop “TQG” featuring legendary Shakira.

Now that the Colombian is living one of her best moments in her career (after launching her history-making Mañana Será Bonito (2023) and tickets for her first-ever U.S. Stadium Tour selling fast), she teamed up with her star producer Ovy on The Drums, to release ‘S91’, a sentimental song that aims to be much more than that. And also includes a special announcement.

«Familia, S91 is not a single. S91 It’s a song that Carolina wanted to do beyond business and numbers … take advantage of my platform to express myself, to share a message …», she wrote on her Twitter profile.

The Meaning of ‘S91’

Thus, Karol G wanted to share her feelings and thoughts on a more spiritual level. And she did so by quoting a popular biblical Psalm. Precisely, “S91” derives its name from verse 91 of the Psalm, where the Colombian shared a poignant line from verse 7 in the song’s lyrics:

Don’t be afraid of the night dangers

Or the plagues that come with darkness

For a thousand may fall at your right side

And ten thousand at your left

But nothing will harm youKarol G in 'S91'

This Psalm conveys the message of God as a shelter in all circumstances and serves to instill trust in Christians. Regardless of the challenges that arise, according to it, God stands ready to assist those who place their faith in Him. According to the Old Testament, Moses authored this Psalm during the 40-year period of wandering in the desert after leading his people to liberation. It is, therefore, unsurprising that Karol G chose to film the S91 music video in the heart of the desert. In the video, the artist portrays a genuine prophet in the presence of a massive cross constructed from speakers.

Thus, «S91» serves as a heartfelt expression to all the people that Karol loves and ardently wishes to protect. Similar to Moses, who guided his people to the Promised Land, Karol G leads her followers towards love. Through S91, Karol G effectively conveys the notion that faith and hope bring about positive outcomes. Moreover, in the music video, we can see an empowered ‘Bichota’ singing to all the success she has achieved, running from haters (a figure represented by wolves and Karol portrayed as a panther). The clip also leaves an important place for religious symbols.

Moreover, the Colombian artist shared some further words on social media related to her latest release that helps to give meaning to it.

» 1. Life is full of wolf situations dressed as sheep… but there is ALWAYS something that protects you and fights on your behalf.

2. It’s not about being the first to win. Every day, we win in different ways without being «the first.»

3. We are all capable of swimming among sharks… it’s a matter of tranquility, calmness, and confidence in ourselves.

4. When everything is done with love and consciousness, eventually the result is the same: fulfillment and a soul as strong as a panther.

P.S.: When we find ourselves in a difficult, painful, or uncomfortable situation, we often avoid it, don’t accept it, and resist it, when sometimes we should simply let ourselves go because God, the universe, or whatever you believe in, has a much better plan. Focus on yourself and your strengths, the rest are things that appear along the way, and once you pass them, they stay there, on the path.» Karol G on Instagram

Special Announcement: Bichota Season is Coming

At the end of the music clip we can see the highly anticipated message that the Colombian artist prepared for us.

Mañana Será Bonito (Bichota Season) is coming”, is drawn on the screen in pink phosphorescent letters.

Even though Karol G hasn’t shared further details, we can understand that maybe it is a future release related to her last album, but maybe a little more ‘Bichota’, more powerful and more sensual. Could it be, Carolina?

‘S91’ Lyrics in English

Verse 1

I made a new flow for them to analyze
I conquer every country I step foot in
Since the plane touches down
I have my people happy
That’s what I always wanted
I don’t have people envying me anymore
What I have are apprentices

Chorus

They want to be like me, I’ve seen them
But the flow is not for sale
I’m sorry, but the flow is not for sale
No-oh-oh, it’s neither sold nor borrowed
From afar, you can see they want to be like me, I’ve seen them
But the flow is not for sale
I’m sorry, but the flow is not for sale
No-oh-oh, it’s neither sold nor borrowed

Verse 2

La G is breaking records as expected
And I know it frustrates many
With all the styles, all the ways
I resemble Goku with the seven spheres
The «paisa» taking the lead
Keeping it high however she wants
I have guys fighting for me
Yes, even record labels
And if it hurts them that I’m breaking records as I should, well, my bad
I can live four lives without working, just with my royalties
I have people who didn’t believe in me, wanting to work in my company
And women who tell me that for me, they’d switch sides fearlessly
La Bichota, the tough one, the girl, she steals the show even while sick
I arrive in Spain and they tell me, «Girl, you drop a sick flow that’s mind-blowing»
I left seven zeros behind a long time ago, my fandom and I are inseparable
I feel incredible, I feel unstoppable

Chorus

Th-th-they want to be like me, I’ve seen them
But the flow is not for sale
I’m sorry, but the flow is not for sale
No-oh-oh, it’s neither sold nor borrowed (From afar, you can see)
They want to be like me, I’ve seen them
But the flow is not for sale
I’m sorry, but the flow is not for sale
No-oh-oh, it’s neither sold nor borrowed

Outro

Don’t be afraid of the night dangers
Or the plagues that come with darkness
For a thousand may fall at your right side and ten thousand at your left
But nothing will harm you
